  • Someday I want to be the person to make 3DS games run in a DS lite...

Have you tried cutting that little tab off?

Oh goodness no. I'd have to cut so many cartridges. I've got a far simpler solution...

Just to clarify before I get a bunch of these

, I used a bad shell for all of this. The 3DS is unharmed, and I took all good parts off of the shell (stylus holder, shoulder buttons, weird metal bit by the GBA slot, etc). I will never do anything to hurt a good console or good parts.
    Happy new year everyone!

My new years resolution is to not disappear from GBAtemp every other month. I've met a lot of nice new people this past month, so it'd be nice to continue talking to you all. Thanks for making my year on GBAtemp pleasant!
Guess how much this whole setup cost.
    20221228_005919.jpg

$80 for everything on the shelf, minus the shelf itself. Thats...
    - $25 for the Wii
    - $8 for the monitor
    - $2 for the mouse
    - $25 for the DSi
    - $20 for the DS lite

Everything else there I got for free. This is why I buy broken or used shit. If tested, the Wii alone would've cost me upwards of $80.
Please... no more tea. Every time I use one box I get three more. I don't have any more room.

[1/3] I'm a bit confused. A while back I followed this guide on installing dev firmware on a retail 3DS. Everything was named like 11.4.rar, and Config_v11_4_NAND.cia, so I thought it was for the 11.4.0 dev firmware (listed on dev units as 0.25.5).

[2/3] But the installed firmware says it's 0.24.67, or as we'd have known it, 10.1.0!
So why are all the files called 11.4 when it's 10.1.0? And on top of that, 11.4.0 didn't even come out until almost a year later than the guide was created.

[3/3] This naming is wildly confusing. I have a bone to pick with whoever archived those files. Please... if you're ever uploading something to the public, use a naming format that makes sense.
Against my better judgement I've made my profile open again. Enjoy I guess.

All because of this profile post. I wanted only people I followed to see it. But now I figure it has reached page 2 of my profile, so chances are most people will miss it (along with this reply eventually). At some point I won't hide it, but I think this reply is the limit of how far I'll go for now.
    Happy Tempmas, IS1982. <3
    Best wishes from M4x1mumReZ.

P.S. Have fun fixing your DSi this winter.

Merry tempmas to you as well! I've only known you for a short while but you've been really fun to talk to. Thanks!
I don't know why, but holiday seasons don't feel like holiday seasons anymore. They just feel like a bunch of boring normal days. Perhaps it's just because I haven't gone to a christmas party in years or because I'm not active in any other activities.

    Anyways, it's a weird feeling.

I found a 1949 radio broadcast on comic books ruining the youth by making them more violent, withdrawn, distracted, etc. The program had people speaking from both sides and I found the arguments fascinating. Both sides were speaking just like parents today saying video games or cell phones are ruining our children.
Wow, the shell on my old DS lite is really bad. I'm seeing some small cracks in the plastic, and the power switch just broke. I must've really treated it horribly as a 10 year old.

I didn't want to order a new power switch so I just soldered on two bits of wire. If I want it on or off, I just stick them together for a half second.

If you want to get a new shell for your DS lite, you can't, many of the replacement shells are cheap pieces of crap. You better be off getting a broken DS lite and using the shell from that.

@M4x1mumReZ I've got some switches from other electronics, so I'll just use one of those. A switch is a switch. Couldn't hurt too much to use some random one. Or maybe it will and I'll be screaming about it in a few days.

Fair enough. Do whatever you want to do with them.

I just saw a listing in my city for a $25 DSi XL that has a broken touch screen. It just so happens that I found my bricked DSi XL a few weeks ago (all the hardware is good). I think I'll buy it and swap the screen.
The 3DS owner from my blog has been really fucking annoying. We've scheduled to meet multiple times so I can give him his console, but he hasn't showed up. We're in the same school, and we've both got a whole hour to do whatever during lunch. There's no excuse for not showing up.

Sorry. I just hate it when people waste my time like this. I've been really good to him, I tried fixing that console to the best of my ability, and I put up with all of his dumb requests like gluing the shell back together. I think I deserve the smallest amount of respect, right? Is it too much to ask to not be bailed on time and time again?
