    Narcotics were used to dull pain since some 4000 years. The non-addictive type tho...a college prof heard of students huffing ether to get high and tried it. Next thing he remembers an hour had passed with no recollection of it. He then used it during surgeries which were done while fully conscious till then.

    Don't know every street name for everything but I liked to think I was reasonably well versed. Never heard of that one, and downers are reasonably popular around here. Most would probably think homage to various sports teams, military units, paint colours, cheese or similar.
