I'm planning to buy my first r4card, and i wonder if the sdcard speed matters like the class 10 A1 sandisk 32GB sdcard. Or it doesn't matter if is it class 10 A1 or not?

https://gbatemp.net/threads/does-microsd-size-affects-r4-flashcart-peformance.618551/ covers most things there.

Short version is today probably not. Don't get some old thing someone found in a drawer from a decade+ old mobile phone and don't get a fake (I don't know the situation on the ground in the Philippines but elsewhere we normally say avoid too good to be true and Chinese/Hong Kong sellers) then the SD performance of even the more basic stuff outperforms theoretical limits of a flash cart/DS that is reading it, never mind practical ones. If you plan to move it to something that does demand performance after you are done with the DS* then maybe consider that (speed boosts are not usually that expensive).

*or realise 32 gigs is overkill for your DS purposes and drop down to something else (DS ROMs can be a couple of gigabytes but most are more like 512 megabytes or even less) thus freeing up the SD card here.

I will say though is be careful about size -- most flash carts on the market, but probably not all, will not work with 64 gigs which are more common these days so stick with 32 unless you know otherwise.

I'd prefer a smaller size microSD card, such as 4GB. Also, don't buy SD cards from unknown Chinese brands, and only get them from high-quality brands such as SanDisk or Kingston.

Depending on what type of R4 card you've got, the newer ones (mostly clones) will accept SDHC cards up to 32GB, whereas the older ones like the R4 DS will not support them.
