Haven't been on here in ages, but need help with something. I sold all my old PCs and switched to a Windows 10 one. However, Windows 10 is straight up crap and doesn't detect 99% of old non-generic devices, which also means that it doesn't detect my PSP whatsoever (not the cable's fault, 7 cables, all work perfectly on non-Win 10 systems). I want to grab my saves from it though so I can stream certain games on Twitch without having to re-play for 600 hours, so since I can't use USB, I want to get FTPD on it. Problem is, PSP browser only supports SSL instead of TSL (6.60 Pro B-9), so my question is, is there any file hosting site that still uses SSL and works on PSP (eg: no flash-based countdown timers since those get stuck)? If there really isn't one, then give me some suggestions to get the USB to work, I've tried manually installing both type-a and type-b drivers, but nothing works so far. Any help is appreciated, really don't want to have to re-grind every single MH game/Toukiden/Frontier Gate/etc. to get back to max rank...

the psp connects to my pc just fine through usb, are you sure you don't have a plugin or something installed that's hijacking the usb connection? like remotejoylite?

I do have RJL (only in-game) but this happens regardless of if the CFW is loaded or not, making it irrelevant. And it's an issue that just happens for some but for other people doesn't if you look it up, seems more common with 3004 (9g) and up models too.

Have you tried boot a linux live distro?
Besides the fact that linux distros wouldn't do a thing, the whole reason I'm asking for a SSL host is to avoid having to get a second OS installation, since I could just get a temporary XP one or something. I don't have any spare drives/USBs to use for that stuff currently.

both my 1001 and 3001 connect just fine, are you using the regular "USB Mode" or are you using something custom, because normally you aren't even supposed to install a driver to get it to connect and show as a usb storage device

is there even a sound when you connect it?

I installed the driver BECAUSE it wouldn't be seen by the computer in case it would work, it didn't. Also, like I said, I'm trying mostly without the CFW active just in case, so only have the normal USB Mode (also trying without USB charging). And no, it literally isn't seen whatsoever by the computer (no sound, doesn't show in device manager, etc.), which is really weird honestly when on every non-Win 10 system it works perfectly.

Why wouldn't a livecd do a thing? If it is an OS level thing and it only needs boring and basic USB file device setup rather than anything custom then yeah.

That said what about a local server?

Can be a simple file download that way and dodge any SSL woes. Worst case scenario you have to set your router's security settings to allow local traffic.

Using another OS requires something to boot from, I don't have any spare drives/USBs for that, which is why I'm having a problem in the first place!

As for local server, let's say I set it up, how will the PSP connect to that without a homebrew? I'm trying to either get my PSP to be recognized by Windows OR get a specific file ON the PSP (specifically FTPD client so I can then do file transfers through FileZilla instead of USB). Even if I set up a local server, the PSP won't be able to connect on it's own. Which brings me back to my original question, is there any hosting website that still uses SSL?

Not even a lowly tiny USB you can flatten and install something like puppy linux or one of the other.

Similarly you might try a virtual machine -- most of those, certainly virtualbox, have USB pass through that I have used for years on all manner of devices when the host OS has no clue what it is speaking to and even less concern.

On the PSP browser I downloaded plenty of things with the stock web browser back when. Don't think Sony pulled a PS3 other OS on us for that in later firmwares.

Nope, no spare drives available to use. As for VM, because the OS doesn't even see a device connected, the VM (using XP one since I often play 16-bit games like old Lucas Arts ones and happen to have that available) also doesn't see anything (passthrough doesn't work for me, using the professional version of VMWare Workstation).

And I know, PSP browser (with mod to allow for all 64MBs of memory instead of just 2MBs) was great, but unless you are on 6.61FW, you can't access TSL pages and that includes Sony's servers so you can't use the in-system update as it can't connect to the server, meaning I'm stuck with only SSL access and no USB connectivity.

If you are running your own server you can set whatever security you like, including none at all. Done it plenty for legacy devices and setups that need specific settings for their web content.

If you have CFW, check your VSH menu, make sure USB connection/mode is set to memory stick or something similar.

How would that work though? Would it be possible to access it through the PSP's browser via a link or it'll need more?

I never change those settings, so they are correct, plus it also happens without CFW loaded so the issue isn't there.

If you can download it from a theoretical SSL server that someone kept running all these years and get it done then surely "http://192.168.1.whatever/awesomeftphomebrew.zip" will also do?
Been a while since I used any of the WAMP stacks but they usually had a little setup thing where you chose any of the settings you needed/database names/... and among those was the option to choose security level (more generally no need to go through the pain of self signing a cert just to test a local website under development so "none" tends to be an option)

It not appearing at all in Windows has me cast doubt over your USB ports themselves or the hardware somewhere in the mix.

Back on linux I should also have said there are some that will boot directly from windows though I am not sure what goes for USB devices there.

On virtual machines while I would expect full fat vmware to do something I have had some issues with its USB options in the past vs virtualbox which has been pretty solid since it was mostly only geared to allowing your ipod to be written in a linux host.

Possibly it would work, I just need a way to get this file on my PSP, then everything will work fine (I got zip/rar/7zip homebrews, Explora and so on already installed, all I need is to get the file on the SD card). Just no matter how I try to host it, I run into the SSL issue.
