possibly, I know that the xbox original trainers with dlc for specific games worked on my jtag. well, all but one worked from what I remember. you could try it, but the emulator is kinda shitty.

btw, those trainers were meant to preserve the dlc for xbox games once the servers went offline. anyway, it works for a jtag. I think dlc goes in either the TDATA or UDATA folders, both of which exist with a jtag.

It's been a very long time since I tried but I think I remember a few wouldn't boot for whatever reason, but the ones that did could only access the built in hard drive partition for the Xbox compatibility.

Yeah man, when the 360 launched Xbox homebrew was pretty much at it's peak. It's disappointing how the next gen Xbox got pretty much no homebrew at all. Shame for sure. I remember XBMC saying they outright refused to port to it and to me that was like a nail in the coffin for the 360 homebrew scene.

the 360 had potential beyond the ps3 even due to shared memory, one of the reasons why so many multiplat games work better on the 360, and the fact that it can use 2TB internally when the ps3 can't.

gears of war 3 was ported to the ps3 after its leak from epic games website. I played that leak, and it had green boxes appearing out of thin error. anyway, the game can't be played with a retail ps3 due to shared ram. the ps3 and 360 have identical ram except the os ram can be shared on the 360. how sony fucked that up is beyond me, but the game can only be played with a DECR system which has twice the ram of a retail system.

Iirc the 360 was at one point planned to have 256mb until I think Epic said it should have 512mb.

The PS3 at one point wasn’t even planned to have a GPU, instead relying on CELL.

Going to have to go with the "yes but" answer.

As others mentioned it is possible.

You will need a JTAG/RGH machine AND you need to install the hacked version of the xbox emulator -- it is kind of a separate setup within the 360 that is not bothered by the JTAG/RGH tweaks of the 360 kernel/dashboard.

However you will probably be very disappointed -- most of the original xbox emulator on the 360 was a big hack job on the part of Microsoft to support specific games* and patch out bugs with those to make them work better on the 360. Game specific emulation if you will.
Obviously the devs doing said big hack job are not going to focus on homebrew, or indeed non supported games, which means final results are wanting there. Even the unsupported commercial games (which also can be attempted to be booted) don't have much to recommend here over what the official list says. I don't have a current list of those to hand though.

*it is only the last few years that the PC has started to treat xbox emulation seriously. Imagine trying to do that on the wildly different 360 when the xbox was still relatively current as these things go.

Basically install the hacked original xbox emulator onto your homebrew capable 360 if you want hacked original xbox games to run in it (trainers, hacks, ripped scene releases...) or maybe to toy with different regions (though even then if it is not officially supported in another region it is still going to be a bit iffy for some of them).

I also don't know what goes with current hacked DVD firmwares and original xbox games -- originally there was some support for burned 1:1 (which was anything but most Scene releases -- there is a reason there were a bunch of redumps when the 360 was well and truly current) xbox rips but various 360 banwaves and subsequent hacked DVD firmware updates made that far trickier, if not impossible with some setups.

I believe xbox 360 homebrew itself has a measure of N64 emulation that is almost worth speaking of so that might be an option.

Short short version. There is a reason anybody seriously looking into original xbox homebrew will be told to get an original xbox, hack that, maybe source some nice component cables and go from there rather than use a 360.

there's an n64 emulator that runs through xell I believe, but I think dinoh said it was horrible. could be wrong though. I know of that emulator, but I've never used it.

thank you for the answers, i see it might be possible but the trouble just seems awful, i do have an original xbox but i wanted to use the superior xbo360 controller on the homebrew because i haven't found a way to use the xbox360 controller on an original xbox that doesnt cost an arm and a leg to buy sadly.

you need to enable hddx in Aurora/FSD to inject the hacked dash. this is me playing mega man anniversary collection. anyway, I like the xbox 360 controller, but it has issues with the dpad (one of the worst I've ever seen), which is why I like the wii u pro controller mostly.:

Do you only have a giant original controller or something?

I grabbed a controller s from the pile and went between it and a basic wireless 360 one (not sure where my rotating dpad one is right now).

The 360 I liked more (it being one of the best controllers ever as far as I am concerned) but it is not like being asked to go to a dreamcast, N64 or post 16 bit era third party offering.

no but i only have an s controller and the analog stick drift, and finding one in portugal is very hard and even online since i have no idea if the sticks are fine or if they are worn out.

the drift pisses me off and constantly moves on games, xbox360 controller is perfectly fine xD
