Although I agree that PCIe Gen 4 will be a big deal in the future, I think that'd be far after the end of the AM4 socket and start of Zen 4 and DDR5, so a motherboard upgrade would probably happen by then anyways. B450 is still a pretty good choice for now unless they're planning to not upgrade their PC in the future at all (and I think they willl will, this is a midrange build it seems).

Most of the advantage of PCIe Gen 4 come from SSDs that use the PCIe layout at the moment, though.

So with the reveal of Big Navi what do you guys think about waiting for the 3060? Is it worth splurging the money on an rdna2 card?

One option is to try to get a used 2080ti. It won't be super easy, but I've seen them sell for around that amount. A 2080ti would be more powerful than a 3060.

amd r9 fury (find the sapphire nitro version, has oc bios built in, this can pretty much run games max setting @ 1080p freesync, and get 120-180 fps, it does support 4k though 30fps via hdmi, 60fps via display port)

LOL here is me trying to find an RX 580 for non-gaming so I can get more from my 28" 4K monitor.

I've seen quite a few people go for the 2080ti if they can get them.
