Nintendo Switch AR game 'Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit' announced

Nintendo is experimenting with other realities and this time, Ninty is trying out Augmented Reality (AR). During its Super Mario Bros. Direct to celebrate the series' 35th anniversary, the console maker announced Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit. Created in partnership with Velan Studios, this Nintendo Switch game is like no other as it requires physical Mario-themed kart toys to play. These karts come equipped with a camera and are controlled with the Switch console for an AR Mario Kart experience.

The physical kart responds to boosts in-game and in the real world, stops when hit with an item, and can be affected in different ways depending on the race. Players place gates to create a custom course layout in their home, where they can let their imagination determine the track. Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit allows players to race against Koopalings in Grand Prix to unlock skins to customise courses and costumes for Mario and Luigi, and also supports up to four players in local multiplayer mode .

Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit, which is available in Mario or Luigi models, launches on 16th October and functions with a Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch Lite.

Yep, the John Howard tax (GST), my kids saw me watching the video for this, now I am never going to hear the end of it, they both want one.

I reckon they are just testing the waters with the Mario Kart series and trying something different and see the reactions.

Like Mario Maker, it's a dead giveaway to create a Mario Kart Maker.

This looks and sounds a great laugh! My little lad is going to love it. My only issue with it, if you haven’t got a complete smooth floor/surface and your house is all carpet and laid down tiles in the kitchen it’s not going to work very well.

This is my childhood dream comming true, very excited to build very large tracks with all kind of bridges and even themed handmade mini-scenery. I really hope it comes with the capabilit of recording your races.
No, they'll probably block all screenshots and video recordings, and if they don't, they'll find a way to remove camera footage from it.

It will support up to four players, with Koopalings as CPUs

Interesting concept... at a (probable) $80 per set. Luigi Kart sold separately for $60. Extra three signs priced at $40 (set comes with one). Oh, and the game is $59.99 by itself! Hmm, I see my wallet crying for mercy! :P
Apparently the game itself will be free, for... Reasons? It's digital only, I'd guess that it's because the game is only like 1 GB and because of these difficult times

If I were 11yo, this would be the best Mario Kart ever. So I think it's really cool. But it probably also means we'll never see "Mario Kart 9" or whatever they end up calling it, on Switch. And that sucks.

Am I the only one fine with Nintendo's Mario Kart content right now? I feel like I'm the only one who doesn't really want MK9. Not that it shouldn't exist, I just don't get why the current lineup doesn't suffice.

i think you can add cpu racers too, obvisouly theis is not an online racing game since it streams the track from the kart to the switch so how would it even work online you control a kart on a random people house? lol and get to see their house or even ride their kart off a pack of stairs or out of the room? lol
