Hacking Updating new switch

just got a new switch and with the modchip coming in the future would it be safe to go ahead and update switch to latest firmware?

Depend on what chip you are installing and if you had an unpatched or patched unit, SX OS Modchip currently work on latest, generally they take several days to maybe few weeks to provide an update for newer build of SX OS.

Will an firmware update on a brand new Nintendo Switch prevent the hardware mod chip from working? I was not aware of that.
