The Outer Worlds Switch port gets a new release date

After being delayed, Obsidian's The Outer Worlds for the Nintendo Switch has received a release date once more. The game will now launch this summer, on June 5th, for a standard AAA price of $59.99. As was announced during the initial delay, The Outer World's Switch port will also be getting a physical edition, though it will still require an extra download, as well as a scheduled day 1 patch of "up to 6GB" of additional data.

Greetings employees of Halcyon,

We wanted to share an exciting update that we plan on launching The Outer Worlds for the Nintendo Switch on June 5th, 2020. As we prepare for another arrival of new colonists, we have some very important information for those making this journey, specifically for you colonists who prefer your goods in physical form: The retail version The Outer Worlds comes on a physical cartridge, and it will be accompanied by a day one patch that could be up to 6 GB. This patch will optimize gameplay, provide additional hi-res textures, and include other fixes to provide the employees of Halcyon with the best gameplay experience. Please ensure you have planned accordingly and have available space necessary for the patch.

The Outer Worlds for Nintendo Switch will retail for $59.99 digitally and physically. We appreciate your dedication to the Board. And remember: it’s not the best choice, it’s Spacer’s Choice!

I started it via game pass but my 4tb HDD decided to die. Giving out one final scream of pain. Just saved up for a new one only for my wife to confess to dropping the last one. This was a couple of months ago. Will wait for switch version to start over again now

Outer Worlds on the go is something I didn't realize I wanted, but now I absolutely need

Yo i love these type of games and all. But is there something I am missing? I say this because the game seemed very short to me. I guess i can replay with different play styles and all but seemed like 30 hours or so? Have you played and finished this or only played a little or watched? That made a second play through not as appealing for me. In my case i am waiting on dlc. There are some things i loved about it but overall was a downer for me.

I played a decent amount, not nearly all of it, when I had access to Xbox Game Pass. And then I watched more playthroughs when I had to cancel that. So that could definitely be swaying my opinion, and it probably is. For me at least, I just like having access to these bigger games when I'm traveling, or if I just don't feel like playing in my living room I guess

This game felt all sorts of "off" to me, and I'm someone who was, pre-release, willing to kill a man to play this game and loves any and all Obsidian RPGs. Just...this one felt vapid. It's fun, on the surface level, but there's not much really worth coming back for. The story choices don't really change that much within the world, there's way too much loot and constant rewarding of the player doing absolutely nothing (this isn't fallout 4 with crafting, even though it sometimes thinks it is), the SPECIAL replacement system makes all the characters feel vaguely the same, and the perks aren't anything really to change things up drastically, either. I really tried to like this game, but I couldn't get into it, let alone for a second playthrough.
