Hello,

my setup is running a VitaTV on 3.60 with Henkaku (R10) Enso installed.
I have nonpdrm and renpdrm to circumvent the psplus and license problems due to the old firmware. I have a working act.dat from my main account to have access to the same saves and games with my vita (which is on ofw).

My PSP-Collection is working through adrenaline. All my PSV games+saves are working fine.
What doesn't work are my bought PSX games. They all error out with E-ffffffff after the warning screen.

Did my best to figure it out but beside one reddit thread with the exact same problem without solution and a few PS4 related problems nothing comes up.
I read from the developer note that nonpdrm is incompatible with psp/psx games. But even when I deactivate this plugin the games still don't run.
How can I solve this? (btw the psx games working fine when run from adrenaline).

So to answer my own question after I bricked my old pstv and getting a new one to finally solve this mystery:

cause:
This error happens if you use nonpdrm. It breaks the license check for PSX games.
I have to analyze this further but this error is related to the internal vita partitions (either tm0, ur0 or vd0).

Short summery:
You have to remove cfw, upgrade to 3.70ofw, activate your vita to be able to use your purchases again, downgrade, exploit and install cfw and stay away from nonpdrm.
Yes it sucks, but if you are desperate to solve this error you have to do this as long I (or you or somebody else) can't find an easier way.

This short guide assumes that
i) ur0:/ is your internal partition
ii) ux0:/ is your main partition for games
iii) You have firmware <3.69 installed. If you are already on 3.70 and don't need enso you can of course skip the firmware down-/upgrade parts.

Step by step guide:

Skip directly to step b) if you have either:
i.) a psv1k with 2 memory cards (you need to swap the card before making a factory reset and swap it again before doing the last step)
ii.) a pstv/psv2k with a memory card
iii.) a pstv/psv2k with a sd2vita adapter

step a)
-run vitashell and copy everything from ux0: and ur0:/tai via ftp onto your pc.

step b)
-comment out all custom plugins from ur0:/tai/config.txt you may have installed and reboot your vita. Make sure it boots the plain henkaku enso
-remove any exploit you have installed (henkaku, enso, trinity, etc.). If you have enso v1.0, install the vpk for v1.1 first else you may brick if you remove enso with the v1.0 installer!!!

Only do step c) if you skipped a) earlier
step c)
Either...

i.) ...swap the memory card if you have a psv1k
or
ii.) ...remove sd2vita/memory card

step d)

-Reset your vita to factory defaults (this will wipe the system partitions and also any files nonpdrm has modified)
-Update your vita to 3.70 via wifi/usb/cma
-Login to your psn account and activate the vita.
-MOST IMPORTANT STEP: Don't ever go online again after you have downgraded to 3.60! Going online will remove your vita activation and you'll
have to use nonpdrm again to have access to your games and thus breaking 'native' PSX-compatibility (The E-FFFFFFFF error).

This means you have to use an internet filter or a proxy to block all internet traffic from/to your vita except for https://henkaku.xyz.
I couldn't find a working solution to use henkaku entirely offline after downgrading to 3.60.
-Go to https://vita.hacks.guide and follow it from scratch to get to downgrade to 3.60 and installing henkaku/enso.

If you skipped step a) earlier, goto step f) now

step e)
-Copy back your ux0: and ur0:/tai/ backup from your pc to your vita via ftp. Don't copy ux0:/id.dat. Skip that file so you don't have to undock the memory card in henkaku settings menu.
-reboot your vita and everything should work

step f)
-Insert
-Uncomment all plugins from ur0:/tai/config.txt you commented out earlier.
-reboot your vita and everything should work

Huh? You bricked trying to fix an error code on legit paid-for PSX games?

How did you brick? Removing enso?

I tried to explain it in detail here: "https://gbatemp.net/threads/ps-tv-brick.501001/"
In Short: I bricked while upgrading to the 3.65 firmware after removing enso. It was so strange because the recovery mode worked but I had a black screen when the device booted. I tried everything... Changed monitor/tv, cables, updating to fw3.70. Nothing helped. I mean the recovery menu worked completly with every option (and the green firmware updater too) but when the device had to boot normally the screen was just black (no input signal error or anything the screen was plain black with backlight enabled).
Went to dischord and it took forever to explain everything but in the end nobody was sure why this happened.
Beeing so mad on wasting so much time and in despair I trashed the device.

I finally got a not too expensive replacement today and solved the error above while restoring the state I had before the brick. In the end I don't know why I bricked because it makes no sense since the recovery menu worked flawlessly. Maybe it was simply a hdmi issue and the port broke somehow. Nobody knows.
The new PSTV does its job with the same setup. I up/downgraded it and I had not a single problem today.
