MK Gold is hilarious. All the textures are wrong. Sub Zero almost has a skin suit-Venom looks because the texture is (copyright?) text on black background. It's entertaining to see what textures come out of the blood each time someone gets hit.

Yeah it was interesting, probably more interesting than actual Mortal Kombat 4 Gold.

Oh yeah, because that's so risky if you're an actual honest modder.
ExFAT is never supported in homebrew and it never will, so stop relying on it before you actually hurt the contents of your card. Honest modders would still be downloading on their Switch and thus, 4GB limits are a moot point as no supported homebrew requires any files above that, nor emulators that support consoles whose games reach those filesizes.
But now this is turning into another discussion entirely so, please don't derail matters.

You literally derailed further and asked not to derail LOL

Going on eshop is hella risky on CFW and I would never do that on a customers switch

How is me not risking my customers switches online on CFW not honest - Your ass backwards here for sure

I don't give a shit if you prefer fat32 over exfat just stating Exfat is perfect here for me and my 300+ clients to date

Gonna test some dreamcast games instead of wasting my time with nonsense

Anyone tested Virtua Tennis? Cbf going through 20+ pages. I will try myself when this gets out of alpha. Amazing work to see this kind of thing happen though... Just before Switch hacking/homebrew scene’s 1st birthday.

Also is there a wiki with a table for compatibility list?

oh man, you havent seen what happens with sword of the berserk lmao, it looks like everyone is on cocaine there, animations are trippy, textures are misplaced and distorted in some places, but it still runs fairly well huh

I would recommend not to wait, it really shouldn't be called an Alpha it's too good for that. Not that there isn't plenty of room for improvement, but it's pretty good.

I can confirm custom texture packs work. You have to put the folder "textures" and make another folder inside of it with the name of your game (I got the proper name from playing the rom once in Reicast on windows and dumping a few textures which makes a folder with the correct name).

1st of all thanks for the port! (Will try it later)

Does confidential mission work? And furthermore any chance that we could use a joy-con for aiming? (same applies for all the other rail shooters on dc)

Chuchu rocket: Flawless

Conflict zone: Playable but some textures are random, videos don't work and sound is choppy

Toy commander: cdi not recognized (tried PAL and NTSC bios), will try another dump

This emulator is breathtaking !

Works fine for me at full speed. I'm using a USA cdi copy.

Really ? Thanks for the info.
USA CDI too (first given by duckduckgo), I don't understand what's happening then.

We have 20+ pages because most people like to post adventure stories about how they fail to boot a CD rip they've found somewhere on the internet.

Then make useless lists of their adventure stories, at a time - when the emulator isnt in any state tu judge its actual compatibility - because it doesnt represent the emulators 'performance' yet, but just porting issues, that have yet to get ironed out.

All you can do so far, is to look at actual gameplay speed and actual gameplay speed with slight overclocking. And warn people not to play pretty much ANY game, because they will ruin their experience - because off all the issues that are still present. (Exceptions: JSR, Time Stalkers, those apparently run roughly as they should.) This testing did indicate, that almost everything will run. Biggest issue (after texture and text issues) - FMV sequences, that for no reason dont play at all, or currently stutter, unless you through 1.9 GHz of decoding power at them which makes no sense (ffmpeg bug (linked to a github discussion in this thread (when this was an issue in PPSSPP - dev(s) please read) already)? Its the same in the lakka build of reicast, fyi).

Virtua Tennis pretty much works flawlessly already. Someone else (who sounded like they were really testing) tested it and stated as much.

Now if you try that again, I'll punch you in the face (virtually), because instead, of clawing through 20 pages mostly useless adventure stories (oh, so very exciting), I would now have to claw through 25 pages, where people try to graft others to read them for them, and give them a summary.

Summary: If people would act somewhat reasonably - none of this woudl be an issue. Your 'favourite game' probably works.

Maybe with some minor stutter, and maybe only once you've overclocked the CPU to 1.5 GHz (for maybe about 10-15% of games). Hows that for a compatibility list?

(Minus the Windows CE games, those dont work.)

i am sorry then for a few of my posts here but I guess it's just my super excitement that this pipe dream is quickly now a reality. I mean when i first bought my switch one of my visions was portable cast as I came to think of it.

Today at work I was able to do just that with crazy taxi and it felt really good.

We should donate to davidgf...

Couldn't find another cdi for toy commander, other bios gives the same result.
Strange, all US/Eur worked so far (Space Channel 5 and Silent scope boot as well :)).

Did you modified the settings to get it to work ?

Im still amazed how well many great titles perform considering such early stages of development. Just wish the same would happen with Dolphin ;), I would kill to see a port come over to Horizon.

Reads alpha. Has it must be so early in mind.
Reads alpha. Has in mind that he usually only gets to "test betas" (marketing vehicle for unfinished product as well, to lower expectations). It must get - like so much better, still.

Likes a system - just wishes the rest from the universe.

All the performance stuff already is kind of fixed. (Which is why it makes sense testing and stating it now.) People who are porting emulators arent coding them from scratch (optimizing, yes - which was kmmaniac popularized - which got oddly game specific in his case, thats not usual). Math doest just get faster, because something is in an alpha stage. Some aspects are fixed, by what you are working with. They already run on a dynarec, and three cores (?), so additional performance is not just magically manifesting - when you are porting an existing codebase. Thats why performance testing makes sense now - but after about 5 games you've got a general grasp on it.
For compatibility submit to http://report-games.reicast.com, however state platform Other (switch) and version switch-alpha
thanks!
Please dont, your work should be entirely useless after a little time.

I doubt that the texture issues are caused by a multitude of porting issues. So once its fixed - its fixed, for most games.
Same with FMVs. Same with text boxes (which also might be a texture issue, dont know).

By all means, please support such lists after development has progressed a little. Currently "every game is kind of broken" would be the result of such lists.

Get the port to a state where actual compatibility lists make sense. Dont tell 100 folks to do useless reporting in forms. Then tell them to start over on your next version. "Now hows it now?"

You get three tries on gathering public attention on this maybe - after that most people will have formed their opinions. No one will read multiple versions of compatibility lists in succession. Older ones simply stop mattering.
Sincerely, the testing department. ;)

In most threads you contribute to a large amount of crap posts. Will you ever stop moaning and writing s.a that nobody cares to read. Anyone know if I can block people's posts/comments getting real bored of this A..

Never.

Do you know whats funny though? Having some of the people that complained about my behavior (doing kind of "what are you all doing" callouts) in the past - then show up in private discord channels and heavily complain - what a mess gbatemp has become, because everyone is essentially posting useless stuff.

Then I get in with "tone it down a little" - maybe dont get amped up about compatibility testing on an alpha - because, they usually arent public for a reason.

And cash in on the feels of everyone, that I just told that - I honestly could do with 10% of whats in threads like this already. The problem always is - to get to that part. I do it by reading through 20 pages regardless. But end of moaning - because you kind of have a point there.

In this specific case - I at least have got the comparatibility with the Lakka build. And its night and day (to be expected from a released alpha build), on reicast Lakka - almost none of the issues here are an issue - so what are we doing compatibility lists for? To crown this a pretty poor version of reicast? Which will probably switch over to be a great version of reicast in few weeks time?

Hey, I'll save you the focus testing group and just tell you straight out, that currently almost every game is broken to the point - where tinkering with what works, is most of the enjoyment you'll get out of them.

As others did before me in here - btw. And they are right.

Thats the feedback that needs to get across at the moment. But also, its expected, because its an early build. But then I dont think that you are into micro managing 2000 games compatibility state, thats not reicast (core) related at all - so what are this lists for?

I mean, you can tell people to do stuff just for the fun of it - and they'll do it, my point is, you'll not do it more than three times in a row.

Also, of course - much gratitude to the developer. The antialiasing on your port f.e. is better than in Lakka, keep up the good work. I already use it daily. Thank you for your work.
