Hi,

After updating from 6.1 to 7.0.1 through ChoiDujour and uptading to latest ReiNX I am experiencing some issues.
When quitting a homebrew (any homebrew) the switch crashes into the ReiNX crash dialog. Pressing the power button once will reboot into ReiNX again.

Any fix for this?

Cheers,

The solution is to use a real CFW, use atmosphere....

It crashes because Atmosphere crashes and ReinX is mostly Atmosphere :D

Exiting with the + button works. Mine doesn't always crash on 8.0 but still does occasionally because i forget and mash the home button first...doh.

Renix is most definitely not "mostly atmosphere". Maybe 10 months ago you could have made that comparison. It's not even in The same ballpark at this point.

Yea i dont remember when they changed that but when i upgraded to 7.0.1 thats when i had to start using - or +

Noticed many Homebrew actually have commands for graceful exit. I have used home button out of laziness.
Thanks!

I believe something got broken during update process though. Sometimes album doesn’t launch HBL. Need to reboot in order to solve it. Backups are loading so should be in cfw, just HBL that won’t load.

Is there a config file somewhere that is worth deleting? Might be incompatible with new ReiNX?

The solution is to use a real CFW, use atmosphere....

Thanks, not very constructive, but thanks :). Have considered switching over but ReiNX has been good to me.

Have a spare microSD and thinking about starting “fresh”. Want to keep my games and Homebrew still.

Cheers,

I know it was kind of dickish, mostly in jest. I'll help you set up a good Atmos if you ever want to switch. It's simply the best out there now. Very easy to use and it's getting more features weekly. Retroarch is exclusively supported on Atmos as well if you care about those things.

isnt launching album with R button pressed working? You have to keep R button pressed until the homebrew is launched , else it will just open album

That whole system is reworked. Yes. You can set it up to launch homebrew over any nsp by holding any button you set it to. I use R. There is also a built in cheat system now. Yes the album works as a regular album.

then why does almost everything here have the atmosphere copyright header https://github.com/Reisyukaku/NX_Sysmodules

Because at it's core it is using Atmos modules however pure atmosphere over the last several months has pulled ahead by miles. Jit and dynarec features for retroarch are being exclusively developed for atmosphere along with countless other things that set it apart. Not to put anyone's work down, REI is great however it has outlived it's usefulness. If all you want to do is pirate games Reinx is going to work just fine.

It is my opinion that it's silly to wait for REI or anyone for that matter port atmosphere features and not even all of them when you can just download your update from GitHub as soon as it comes out. Which by the way is becoming more and more frequent.
Every time a new OFW breaks CFW, Atmos is always the first to fix it and then you'd have to wait for someone else pack port the workaround. There is just no reason to use anything other than Atmos unless you need to use xci.

Not trying to cause any more trouble.

I don't want to keep hijacking ops thread. I already apologized for being unproductive here.

Ah, you were talking about the fact that atmos is far more up to date.

Even for pirates now Atmosphere is the best. All you need is Atmosphere and the pre packed es and fs patches posted on these forums. I used ReinX initially but it just doesn't make sense to now.

I thought its normal to crash when using AMS on Firmware 7.x and above? Been using 6.2 until recently updated to 7.x. AMS never ever crash on me other than bad nsp install in 6.2. But whenever i hit home button 7.0.1, it will crash. Homebrew app like goldleaf crashes everytime with home button but tinfoil 1.55 did not.

Thanks! I think i can pull it of with one of the many elaborate guides out there. One thing I am wondering though is which folders I need to carry over to keep games/homebrew and saves?

How come whenever Yiffan wrote a module for the 3ds scene, every CFW and their forks used it and it was okay, but when ScriesM writes a module you're "just an atmosphere clone" when you use it. Sounds like elitism to me. Besides ReiNX is geared towards being simple for users to use, where as Atmosphere isn't. If you want proof of this answer the following question for me. What flag files does atmosphere accept and when should you use them? I'll wait while you google it.
