Sure but how should RetroArch know, that you want
Pokémon - Red Version (SGB enhanced)
to be named
Pokémon Red
?

There's nothing that could tell RetroArch your prefered naming convention.
You could only use the "replace all" feature of an editor to achieve that.
If you don't know how, drop the playlist file here and tell me what you want.
Are you retarded?

It does what it already does, scans the directory and pulls the game name from the rom/iso.

The problem here is when you do your first scan it pulls the game list.

If you add more games and scan again it can't simply delete old scan files, do new scan thus updating with new content added.

Fuck me this is something that is very simple yet idiots on here seem to talk shit acting like they know shit, but I'm fact they didn't know shit.... reminds me of a guy called rick, thought he knew shit but didn't know shit.

I think that was in response to you saying it should be able to rename titles more cleanly automatically. I made a comment saying I wish you could rename everything to a more simple name, and then he responded saying I can manually edit the data, and then you quoted his response to my comment and said "it should do that automatically"

It can't do what I want it to do automatically because different people will have different preferred naming conventions and it can't know what you want it to be.

I see you were later talking about re-scanning the directories to pick up new content without deleting non-existing content or duplicating existing content and you're right about that. New subsequent scans of a single directly shouldn't erroneously produce duplicate data, or fail to pick up new data. I agree with that, but the response you quoted in your last post wasn't in response to the databasing issue you raised.

Its pretty simple.

It should scan your directory

It should pull the file name from the rom or iso.

Nothing more nothing less

If you want your rom to be names something different then wtf, why name Pokemon yellow as max fucking Payne.

Because what it does do is name everything like this "Pokemon - Yellow Version (USA) (SGB Enhanced) 1.1" and this:

"Pokemon - Red Version (USA/Europe) (SGB Enhanced) 1.0"
"Pokemon - Blue Version (USA/Europe) (SGB Enhanced) 1.0"
"Pokemon - Yellow Version (USA/Europe) (SGB Enhanced) 1.2"
"Pokemon - Gold Version (USA/Europe (SGB Enhanced) Rev2"
"Pokemon - Silver Version (USA/Europe) (SGB Enhanced) Rev2"
"Pokemon - Ruby version (USA/EU/FR) Rev1"
"Pokemon - Sapphire version (USA/EU/FR) Rev1"

looks like crap compared to

"Pokemon Red"
"Pokemon Blue"
"Pokemon Yellow"
"Pokemon Gold"
"Pokemon Silver"
"Pokemon Ruby"
"Pokemon Sapphire"

but if you change the name in the emulator, or in the .lpl it loses it's association with any of it's artwork.

My original question was is it popular to rename the roms, or their titles in RetroArch WITHOUT losing the artwork.

Hey guys, i'm late to the party tho. I'm trying to get that "perfect" config for FF9 on RetroNX, but either the sound is a problem, or the game lags. I tried a lot of stuff, followed the recommandation on the SpreadSheat bit did no work! If someone could help me, that's be appreciated! :D

Did you enable "Threaded Video" In the Video Settings in RetroNX? Go into the settings (Will be OFF) And change the option to ON when you install it for thefirst time. Then finally select and load your Ps1 roms. Hope this info helps you.

Your able to emulate oot and mm at speeds that are playable in the switch?

Hmmm

How because the current plugin and installer is terrible for nearly all n64 roms and even I've tried oot and it's frame rate is low.

As for database it's exactly how a database works, you set a directory and it scans and updates it's listing adding new content.

You shouldn't have to manually edit the database file when it has a scan directory feature.

That's the hole purpose of the feature but it's broken.

You can scan directory once and it will compile a list, if you later add to that directory and scan again it won't update. That is what the database is for, to create a list of data.

The database cannot account for innumerable file name or content changes. The database works for strictly known good releases. That's how it works, make peace with it.

OoT is a full 20FPS basically everywhere. MM has some slow down during the Stone Tower climb. I've even posted screenshots of it running full speed at 720p resolution and video of how Stone Tower runs.

You really didn't have to resort to stupid insults to get your point across, dude, not cool. Learn to give critique without being a smartass, and not like someone pissed in your cereal.

I've looked this up before but didn't really research it much. I think it's been mentioned here before, but playlist buddy seems to be the best way to edit the entries.

Hope this helps !

It's possible if you use Playlists.
You can change the name of the ROM to whatever you want by editing the playlists files

yeah I think I did, I tired a many different config, but when I get the sound to be perfect, the game lag every now and then, and when the sound sucks, the game run smoothly, is there something I'm missing? Maybe if you could upload any retroarch.cfg and retroarch-core.cfg, maybe it will lead me to be able to get it to work properly! Thanks tho!

EDIT : Nvm, got it to work properly!

So I dunno why this never hit me before now, but people kept saying Playlists and I just assumed since those are lpl files and RetroArch uses lpl files for the base directories that those were the same thing. I've since realized you can create separate playlists that are custom.

People constantly think they use fat32 when in reality they use exfat.
Nothing surprises me anymore.
Update: Turns out it was crashing with the latest stable version, and because I didn't cleanly wipe the old version before installing a nightly build it kept behaving the same way. Not sure of the root cause. In any case, deleting the whole folder and starting over with a clean install fixed it.
