I've never even seen .rz files?

Remember I sent in a donation a few months back HankÂ
biggrin.gif

.rz is the compression format for Rominator.

@Pantera: Window will not be maximizable. It will be only up to 1024x768. I have reasons for this. The font will stay the same size as well -- Again, about the whole portability thing.

@BakuFunn: I haven't gone through all the applications yet, but it's still possible you may be surprised
biggrin.gif

@Auyx: I'm going to try and have 1 person for XP, and one person for Vista... although Vista might be a little difficult to support as hardly anything works in it as it is, but I'll do my best

First beta will be ready before tomorrow.

Hello Hank,

Thank you for the great program. I love it a lot. I do have one small feature I would like to suggest and/or request.

I would like the option to rename my particular ROM with the appropriate scene number attatched.

For example...

"Game X (E).nds" would become "1138 Game X (E).nds"

This is mainly for my own archival purposes. I'm an obsessive rom collector and this small addition would really help me out a lot. It would also make your already incredible software, perfect in my eyes.

Thanks again for all your hard work and effort.

Cheers!

You can already do this...... You set the option of which characters you want to rename with in the settings. Use %n for the scene number. Or you can click the little add button to the right of the text box.

Yes, this is called the 'Naming Scheme'. Basically, when you auto-rename your games, you can choose what elements to include in the name. This includes: Number, name, country, multilingual tag, release group, and publisher.

Just play around and if you need help with something, feel free to ask.

(And just to let you know, this feature has been in there for almost a year

No, I don't want it to be public... because I know there's a lot of n00bs that will be like "THIZ DOZ NOT WERK!!!1!1LOLLERZ!". I'd rather keep it closed.

The Beta Testers have all been chosen and have been sent an email. Thanks for those who volunteered.

Just wanted to say that Rominator doesn't work on Leopard - it can't find the files, and if i try to rescan, it dies with a NSObject error. Here's hoping Rominator 5 will be alright, since I dont want to go back to Tiger.

I already know Rominator does not work on Leopard -- I do not support Leopard anyways right now, because it's not even out yet!

Rominator 5 may not be compatible as well from the get-go. When it's released and I get it in the mail, then I can start focusing on the compatibility issues.

Firstly - THANK YOU for creating such a fantastic trimming tool for os x.

*No peado-hentai bg's
wacko.gif

*Full OS X support
*Works brilliantly on a lowly PPC 1.67Ghz (that I use)
*Previously got about 40ish unttrimmed roms (with space for homebrew too) on my 2Gb card, now can fit 50ish
yaynds.gif

*LOVE the database sytem that provides info on the Rom's
wub.gif

*LOVE the fact that I get a clear view of the space used/unused and how much is saved per rom

.....I could go on and on
smile.gif
, sufficde it to say, this is a GREAT additon to my R4.

A couple of things to let you know (am using 10.4.10 with all updates on a PPC 1.67Ghz PB G4):

When I first used it, I found that after the first trim (I have "safe trim" and "auto-trim" ticked in prefs), it would subsequently fail/crash on every subsequent attempt. Closing and reopening the app wouldn't help, the only way to get it to work was a complete uninstall (actualy, deleting the pref files....or rather all files other than the .app via appzapper). Then again it would work for the first trim only.
How was it fixed? Not sure why, but after I passed the prog through XSlimmer (which strips away the uneccessary intel code from any app - if you have an intel mac, it will strip away uneccessary PPC code), it has since worked flawlessly
biggrin.gif
. I'm not sure why this is (maybe Xslimmer does something else too?????
huh.gif
), but just to let you know that this is a possible fix for others if they have this issue.

Do you have any input in the rom database that is contacted? The reason I ask is that I have 2 roms (Game & Watch collection, and Tingle's Balloon fight) which, because they are Club Nintendo Japan exclusives (but you can get them on ebay) they don't show up with any info. It would be nice to have details appear as they are both staying on my DS (they're great games). Apologies if the database is nothing to do with you, but I was hoping those games would be included.

Finally, any chance to give a more detailed view on how the save game backups work? I'm probably being dense here, but I assume you can set Rominator to auto-backup the latest save games (if they're altered) from the DS. I can't for the life of me figure out how to get this to happen and also can't find any info on your site/the readme. Any help would be appreciated as at the momnet, I'm simply manually drag'n'dropping each individually from card to mac (so I would love it to be automatic as and when I press a button in rominator for instance).

Anyway, thanx again for this brilliant app and keep up the good work

Hey Gaffer,

Nothing says 'Thank You' like a nice lil donation

That's a weird bug you found there... I'll be releasing Rominator v5.0 soon, and so far any issue of that sort does not exist
biggrin.gif
No point in explaining save game backups now, as it's completely different in v5.0. As for the database... Sure, I'll add in those 2 games
smile.gif
Are there any other club nintendo games that exist besides those?

Oooooh....v5
biggrin.gif
.
As far as I can tell, the only Club Nintendo Japan games so far are those two. You can get them both from mininova if you need to test them.
In fact, they're the only rom's I've found with no "official" number.....they're both listed as " XXXX - Game & Watch collection (J).nds" and "XXXX - Tingle's Ballon Fight.nds", so i'm not sure who gets to officially name them, but it seems they forgot about these
biggrin.gif
.

On a side note, Tingle's Balloon thingy is one of the MOST fun games I have ever played on 4 way download play multiplayer. Really simple, yet extremely addictive (typical Nintendo)........ give it a go...

P.S. I'm REALLY sorry to keep asking things
shy.gif
, but I keep roms that I'm not currently playing in a seperate folder (called "unused roms")....is it possible in v5 to add that folder as a seperate "playlist" in Rominator? Not essential (I'm not using them after all) but it would be nice to browse through them as well every now and then. I get the feeling you might have enabled that from reading the other posts (in which case, just ignore me
happy.gif
).

P.P.S. Unlike others here, no issues with any "virus alerts".......Oh....wait......that's 'cos I use the mac version
rofl2.gif
. Thanx again for making a mac version.

Hi! Just wanted to let you know that Avast! Antivirus has started recognizing Rominator for Windows.exe as a trojan: Win32:Trojan-gen {Other}.
I may have to uninstall it because of this... =(

Man, why the heck do these virus programs see Rominator as a virus? The developers really need to fix their database so that it can determine a little better what is a virus and what's not.

@mr_blonde_88:
I'm incorporating DSClippers into Rominator, and scrapping DSC. Rominator will be the Mega Tool

Are you sure? I have the latest version of rominator here and the most recent virus definitions for Avast! and it does not detect rominator as a trojan. Please check to make sure you are running the most recent version of rominator and that your virus definitions and/or program version is up to date.
