Pokemon Let's Go will have specific requirements in order to fight Gym Leaders

tQY1AgH.png

Since the announcement of Pokemon Let's Go: Eevee and Pikachu, fans have been debating and contesting a lot of the changes this spinoff entry seems to be making. From the Pokemon Go integration, to the new way to capture Pokemon, and more, there's been no doubt that this game is trying to differentiate itself from the mainline titles. Now, according to a new update post on the Japanese Pokemon site, there's a new feature in regards to Gym Battles. Now, players can only pass when they meet set requirements. These range from having a certain Pokemon type, level, and other specifications.

It's not entirely explained if you only have to show these types of Pokemon to get through the door, or if you need to keep the Pokemon in your party throughout the Gym fight. But it certainly is a shake-up to the formula that could potentially get in the way of beloved Nuzlockes and other self-imposed challenges, like monotype runs. We'll be sure to keep you updated if more information is announced.

This is only a spin off game and this type of stuff will be fun for the age group its aimed at, kids.
I myself will be waiting to the mainline games come out next year

On the contrary, this game is aimed at the same people Pokemon Go was aimed at at launch: adults reminiscent of their Pokemon childhood. Newer main line games are aimed at newer generations of players.

Pokemon Let's Go: Eevee and Pikachu
Oh, the titles are even more retarded than that they're Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Evoli!
You kind of have to admire that they managed to put just as much punctuation marks in the title as word (if you count Let’s as a single word that is) :rofl2:

I know there are some worries that this game might be reflected in mainline titles, but really I doubt this is something that is going to be carryover.

Were we who played Pokemon RBY smarter than kids today or what? I can't figure out what is going on here. The further we go into the future it seems like the Pokemon games get more and more hand holdy. Seriously, Sun/Moon were basically tutorials. "back in my day" We had to figure things out in a broken physic dominated wasteland called Kanto. There was one tutorial, and old drunk man suffering a hangover who teaches you (badly) how to catch pokemon. That's it.

At that point, why even fucking bother with Gym fights. Just GIVE them the badge! They've earned it by making it this far right!?

Fucking handholding... jesus H christ.

I don't see the big issue? it will take a few seconds of play time at most to do this. If this upsets you so much you've probably already decided the game is not for you... which is fair enough, you also know your getting a proper core game in 2019.

The Lets Go games are really aimed at getting the massive Pokemon Go audience on to the Switch, then hopefully on to the core game coming in 2019, it's a win for everyone if Nintendo can pull it off.

Personally i've enjoyed the core games since Gen 1, I've also enjoyed Pokemon Go since release, so having two different types of Pokemon game is not a bad thing.
