The "lol just abandon the account" is such a wrong way to approach this situation. If i want my account deleted, I should have the option to have ALL my posts scrubbed from the website. It's crazy that on a FORUM of all places, a request to delete the account just makes the profile private. Doesn't touch the posts at all. It used to be "everything on the internet is forever", but now that is NOT true, as in current day people put way too much on the internet and maybe they just want it all gone. Some accounts could also pose a security risk for him.
GDPR gives us the RIGHT to be erased. This is going against GDPR and you are risking somebody tipping the guys down in Europe to take action.
