The preservation argument is somewhat valid. Especially for eshop titles. Eventually eshop won't exist for switch when the console is EoL, so without backups of those titles and a way to play those backups, those titles will become lost to time. So for very long term it is a valid reason to back up games.

OP, just watch a Let's Play of the game you're interested in. After watching you should be able to determine if the game is worth buying or not. This is more helpfull to you than waiting with baited breath for piracy

Heck sometimes just the trailer is enough. Bought Celeste just from seeing the trailer. Great game too
