I see. Just a heads up though, if you update to 3.55 for online/psn access and sony released a firmware update past 3.55, updating to it could have a risk of breaking the tn-v hack you have installed. It is a constant struggle for ps vita owners of do you want psp hacks, and in your case since you are on a low firmware, native ps vita hacks like rejuvenate or future native ps vita hacks, or update to have online and psn shop access.
I pre-ordered World of Final Fantasy which will most likely need 3.55 when it releases anyway. Even if I lose TN-V it's not a big deal as I probably won't use it much anyway, it's just nice to have. There will always be a new game to exploit, and no one's doing much with rejuvenate anyway.

Does the Vita automatically update if I connect it to the internet?
I just found my Vita again with firmware 2.61 and I'm wondering if I can keep it online or not. I have removed the WiFi networks for now.

Thanks

You could possibly set up a proxy server. Use Psvproxynet, which blocks all incoming automatic updates, and also spoofs your Vita's firmware (for CMA, not PSN features)

My VITA is still on 3.18. Last time I played something was a couple months ago. Is there something to use as an exploit for my firmware to acces homebrew and amulators?

Since you don't have an exploited PSP game installed, try the email method of installing homebrew via a "custom bubble."

By the way guys, I made a tutorial on how to dump game files from the PSVita (provided you're under firmware 3.55).
Should I post a thread for this? Not sure where to put it, it's not exactly homebrew... But it's useful for ripping assets.

You can rip stuff, but can you actually edit stuff and put the iso back? Because well that would be revolutionary indeed

No.
Also the main program is encrypted.
You mean the EBOOT? Bummer. But can't you just put it back encrypted?
Since the assets are decrypted according to Shrinefox, which would make a translation possible, assuming you can actually put modified files back.
Why wouldn't that work? I hardly worked with the Vita yet, so I just assumed it would be similar to how PSP games work.

It would break signatures. The files will be viewed as corrupted.
Also the files might have to be put back in it's encrypted from, which the keys to are unknown. The decrypted data that is dumped is only from a temporary virtual filesystem. EDIT: this seems to be the case since the decrypted vfs is read only.

Hi, long time Android modder here but Vita hacking noob. Bought a Vita pre updated to 3.57 (owner obviously didn't like me lol) from what I have researched, vhbl is the only thing that works on this firmware at the moment, is there any decent stuff that works on there? I.e any ps 1,2 or Vita roms/emulators? Thanks in advance and sorry for silly question

vhbl lets you run some psp mode homebrews.

I should really update my guide. I feel the noobs are asking, no offense, dumber questions these days, and it might be best if I can whip up some instructions and pointers for 3.57 users. Even though I have absolutely no exploit games, I could simply just gather what I know from the internet and create a couple more tutos that way.

Although I have a question myself - Would the mimina / portable ops exploits work on lower firmwares?

Would be handy, we get the same thing with noobs over at xda developers so I can understand the same questions over and over may grind people's gears, I have tried the best I can to read up prior to registering though got vhbl installed last night no issues though (piece of piss compared to rooting certain Android phones), today's project, getting emulators working on vhbl. Thanks for your time

On the portable ops question, one may have thought so as that would be an existing exploit on an earlier firmware not patched on 3.57? I could be wrong being a noob hehe

Also apparently some guy called the flow is looking for a kernel exploit as they have found a way of installing bubbles on 3.57

Awesome post mate, that's brilliant.

I was wondering how to install stuff on vhbl now I can get that running through the po+ game. Found the guide for that as well on there!

I wish we had something like this on the xda Android scene for noobs lol

Thank you! Just found it myself today and thought it was best to post it here. Ofcourse the credits go to the people that made the guides though.

First and foremost, this is a fantastic thread! Lots of information that breaths a breath of fresh air into the scene that I wouldn't have found by myself. Now secondly, (and I'm not entirely sure this is the place to say so, so sorry in advance) I'm incredibly excited for Black Fin, and hope that it takes off. Not so much for the sake of piracy, but for the idea of having SD cards back as a storage unit! Would this be the proper thread to talk about, and speculate that?

Thank you very much! It means a lot to me when people find this thread helpful, even though I am just mostly relaying stuff.

Discussion about the Cobra Black Fin is absolutely fine as long as no roms and the like a shared. Though not much is known about it yet!
