Wow, now my internal reviews of all the GBA games I've played that I wrote for fun after each completion will come in handy (god that's a lot, too). xD

Anyway about the nationality "penalty", OF COURSE you should consider the language and grammar etc used by a native English talking person into the score, and not really compare it too much with non-English persons. If it will be like some English/American guys here says (no disadvantage of being native English), then I won't bother competing because I don't want to be raped by them just because they were born in the "right" country.

(Btw, won't matter which flag you'll use because they have the IP:s to track)

And yes I agree with previous poster that this is a "false" way of sending out a message, but I think prizes is what's needed anyway to motivate people to write reviews... after all we don't have so much free time and not many would put down work on reviews on this particular expensive time.

I agree, Q. That's why I just wrote up a review.

It's been a while since I submitted a review but when I finished the first draft of a game review just now, I accidently hit "post" instead of preview. Anyways, I thought the first draft was okayish but what do I do if it happens again?

A couple of questions for the powers that be:

1 - Will reviews with poor grammar be forgiven based on someone's nationality, meaning they may gain and extra point when their reviews are spelled incorrectly? If that is the case, then I will register a new username with the flag of Ethiopia. I know it may not seem fair that a person who does not speak native English doesn't have an equal opportunity, but that is life. There are pleanty of contests in Japan that I am unable to enter because I do not speak the language. Well, I suppose this was more of a comment than a question, but I think giving people a handicap is asking for a lot of trouble.

2 - Is the point scale 1-5 or 0-5? I know you mentioned someone with 100 crappy reviews not winning, but that would imply an ability on the part of the staff to choose one contestant over another based on factors outside of the designated rules.

Any further clarification on these points would be very much appreciated.

1. People of non-english backgrounds wont be given more points, they just might not lose that extra point for their spelling. Basically if everyone runs a spell checker over their review and whatnot there shouldn't be much of a problem

2. 0-5, if you post 10 reviews of a few words each we know you're just trying the thwart the system

As I said in the first post:

"- These points are only noted by staff and not available to be viewed or disputed by members"

*edit*

Also updated one of the rules about posting reviews. Sorry it was left out of the original post. The staff discussed this and decided it is best that the reviews be written specifically for gbatemp, rather than just post something you've already published elsewhere. And yes we do check for this.

I dont like the system, because some Maniac will write 30+ reviews and thats it, even if he get not 5 points for every review he has enough points probably.

How is this:

Everyone has to write 3-5 reviews and the one how has the most points win, there could be a draw, but that can happen now, too!

Or at least make a limit like 10 for the reviews.
