Was curious, I really want a blue colored PSP but not sure if it just better to buy a normal black PSP cheap and but a blue casing for it to replace myself or buy a blue PSP for a more money? How hard is it to change the casing for a PSP and are those casing you can buy normally good quality?

It can be pretty damn difficult changing the entire shell if you don't know what you're doing. If you want, you can try your luck with one of the Madden '09 Blue PSP Slims, but some of them are hackable and some aren't.

Changing just the faceplate (front) is very easy, but changing the back involves the entire housing and can be extremely difficult if you don't know what you're doing...particularly removing the UMD drive and door from the back part.

You're better off buying a black one and buying skins for it. That's what I do. Decalgirl.com has a huge selection of PSP skins. Just curious, are you buying a 2000 or 3000?

Thanks, guess if I do change something it may be just the front. Trying to get a 2000. Going to go around either this weekend or next weekend and search different gamestops and other places hehe.

If it's a Felicia Blue system then it's worth it

If you're wanting a 2000, your best bet would be a silver one. Piano black ones can have either hackable or unhackable motherboards. But all US silver 2000's are completely hackable. (this only applies to US version silvers) So make sure it's definitely a US version. You can tell by looking at the serial number behind the battery. If it begins with HU, then it's USA. (other regions begin with HJ, HE, HC, etc)

But if you really want a black one, then look for one whose serial number is HU2160000 and below. All Piano Black serial numbers within that range are completely hackable. (again, this applies only to US version piano blacks)

Good luck!

LOL, I was just thinking the same thing! I have a MIB Felicia Blue sitting right here next to me and it's killing me that I have to sell it. I ordered it thinking it was a japanese version (which are fully hackable), but it turned out to be a Hong Kong version (which were not hackable). I haven't sold it yet because I'm so tempted to remove the housing and switch it with my silver one.

I disassembled one once and it was very stressful. I don't know if I'd have the courage to take that risk on a felicia blue.

Thanks vmurp for the info on the Silver ones, really like those more then the black just used black because more people seem to buy that color due to it being the "cool" color. So if I find a cheap Silver 2K i'll be very happy.

You're welcome.

I have both colors and while the black is sharper looking, it's a horrible fingerprint magnet...looks like someone was finger painting with bacon grease

and my hands don't even sweat! The silver one doesn't show any fingerprints at all, it's always new and clean looking.
