I just discovered this game was previously called 'The Recruit' after the movie but was renamed to Ice Nine for some strange reason, i was looking forward to The Recruit but all the info dried up on it but now it has resurfaced.

This game is made by Torus and uses the same engine as Duke Nukem Advance. I seriously urge everyone to download this one, so far it's the best fps i've played on the gba to date. It is seriously amazing.

That's odd if it was originally called "The Recruit" after the movie. In that movie "Ice Nine" is the name of some sort of CIA computer program that James (the main character) has to prevent Leila (the hot chick in the movie) from stealing from the CIA. I dont need to get into the plot of the film b/c it gets all flipped around. But, "Ice Nine" is still a reference to the movie (and in the movie it's a reference to Cat's Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut. I'm curious to see of anything else in this game resembles the movie or if it's all been ripped out along with the original title. I loved that movie.

I enjoyed 007:Nightfire and Ecks.vs.Sever:Balistic (the 2nd EvsS release). And I heard quite a bit about this title back when it was being made. I shall give it a try and hope for the best.

Downloaded, Played, Reviewed:

Gameplay: this one is a secret agent story with CIA and all the stuff you've got there. i haven't played long cause i had other things to do but gameplay is like splinter cell diverse and you've got a range of missions to accomplish which are more than just kill-n-run. the game itself is a 3d engine which is an impressive one for GBA. still FPS don't belong on consoles and also this one is hard to get along for a pc fps gamer like me. anyways.
Graphics: the graphic is well done for a fps using the pixel mode and thus not having a huge resolution. the resolution is also the one which imposes the most troubles. unless enemies wear red and others not it's damn difficult to distinguish enemies from civilians. fortunatly they don't shoot very hard so you have a bit of time to take a look if you should shoot at this one or not.
Controls: a thought through layout of the buttons makes it somewhat easy to use the game. sniper mode is done well and strafing/moving works ok. downside is the turning around which of course is fixed to a certain speed of turning which is most times too fast or too slow but that's a problem of the matter.
Sounds: nothing spectacular but not bad neither. moderate though
Framerate: one of the points for every FPS out there is FPS... frames per seconds. this game works astonishingly well and has no big slowdowns except street scenes with a couple of people. it's a fealing like doom somehow or duke3d

Multiplayer: this game comes with multiplayer but that's something i can not test. but alone the fact you can makes it worth a try.

VBA: no issues that i found so far.

Overall: 3d games always catch my eyes on GBA especially from a coders point of view. they are very difficult to do due to the slowness of the CPU in the GBA but if it works it's interesting to see the results. with all the fine stuff done there it still remains an FPS on a console which fights with the usual troubles but this one has tackled them well in my opinion. if you like this genre you definitly should give it a try and otherwise having a 3d game on GBA which is done ok should be a reason to try it out at least. perhaps on long sight this game might fed up.

Score: 7/10

Better than Duke Nukem Advance doesn't mean anything good to me. In my opinion, the GBA is simply not powerful enough to reproduce a decent first person shooter game.

I really would like to see more 2D action/shooting games like Medal of Honor: Infiltration, Turok Revolution and CT Special Forces for the GBA.

I will give this game a try, I really hope it's better than other FPS game for the system.
