Just thought I would share what I have been working on for quite a while on Yu-Gi-Oh World Championship 2011: Over the Nexus.

Latest Patch can always be found here: https://github.com/VoloOTN/over-the-nexus-enhanced/releases, please apply it to an unpatched EU rom. Due to the nature of the changes it is a bit of work to apply them to US and JP! Sorry!

Just to write a quick little update:

Since the release of v0.1.0 I have:
  • Fixed bug with T.Gs end-phase search effect triggering on any-leave instead of just destruction effects.
  • Changed Armory Arm to use the TCG ruling
  • Added Shooting Quasar Dragon - the multiple attacks have since been added since the production of the video.
  • Somewhat fixed most of the weird artifacts in the card art (remove the blocking and transparent colours)

Bit of a slow week regarding progress on the rom. Spent most of the time making decks instead of adding new cards.

Frog and Alien/Uria players will be eating good.

ABSOLUTELY INSANE WORK. The amount of times i wish 2011 had the same card list as tag force 6 (quasar, w nebula, infernity barrier etc). Looking forward to your future work!

Thanks - Slowing making my way towards v1.0.0 but i have been distracted with other Over the Nexus related projects...

Wow, you're amazing!
Will it be possible in the future to add cards instead of replacing them?
I think the best I can do is replace normal monsters that do not really have any attachments to other cards. I have also figured out how to convert Effect-less fusion monsters into Synchro monsters so we do not lose synchros. Adding distinctly new cards into the game is possibly doable but requires touching so many files that I wouldn't know the extent of how many files I would need to modify.

Anyway I have been a bit quiet lately here are some new cards:

More to come but that's all I am showing atm ;) Can you guess what is coming next :D?

Been relatively quiet:

Here a status update:
  • 81 New cards (mostly replacing normal vanillas of effect-less fusion monsters)
  • Ability to toggle on/off banlist restrictions
  • All at Random card pack unlocked by default
Things I have figured out and I am trying to figure out how to work into the rom hack:
  • Extend the number of banlists available by default
30/249 decklist modified.

Awesome! good work i wanna do the same but i dont know in what .bin edit the only think can do is edits the stats in card_prop.bin, can you help me please?

Sure. The card effects are all coded in overlay0003, there are a bunch of tables which register card IDs into effect slots and then the effects are written in ASM.

What are you specifically trying to do?

This is an amazing achievement.
Well done.

Fixing the game while adding content, and dealing with all of that while keeping sanity is impressive.

Thanks. I definetly wouldn't call it "fixing" the game. I think I lost my sanity a while ago but I think the hack is in a good place now where as soon as I finish the CPU decks then I can get the darn thing out 😂

I always think about one thing in these hacks:
Does the CPU actually engage in a strategy that incorporates the new cards added or, does it treat them like the one that was replaced?

Honestly it's hard to say. The AI is really simple and it is entirely based on whether or not anything can be activated or not - so it quite literally stumbles into activating cards.

If it's a trigger effect then the AI might just stumble into activating it. So the CPU can play Reborn Tengu because it'll happen to summon it and it will trigger in gameplay.

If it's an ignition effect then the AI will just not use it which is a shame. So most of the new cards I have been adding are mostly for the player to enjoy.

The deck edits I have been making have mostly been to bring things up to a faster pace (better cards, efficient cards, better ratios) so the AI feels stronger without actually "improving" the AI. I have put a couple of the new cards in some decks and I test whether or not the AI plays the new cards so it isn't a waste.

These decks changes coupled with making certain cards a bit more challenging to get in the early game should make the game feel harder than it currently is. And you shouldn't be able to coast through with just the starter deck :)

Omg is located in THAT part!? :ohnoes:

It was a nightmare for me to find where the effects actually happen; I used breakpoints like crazy, but since I hardly know anything about this (I'm just starting out), I didn't get anywhere. Tell me, do I need to look for the card ID in overlay9_0003? I can easily find the id of the card, so i want to know how manipulate easys effecto to start ,like what type of experimente i can do to know it !THANK FOR REPLY YOU ARE MY SAVIOR !
