That might solve your problem:

press start to enter the Seta-GX options and set "Native Video" to "on", press start again and run your game. This should work, because the emulator use 240p/480i with that setting.

How can I go to options if it's all black from the beginning

Load Seta GX and press the following buttons:

Start, down, right, start and A to load the game. The videomode will be switched to 240p as soon the game is loading. My TV shows "480i". Try it out.

Tested the following on Wii U last night:

Daytona - perfect
F1 Challenge - doesn't show anything
Hang On GP - shows menu but no response to input
Sega Rally - perfect
Sega Touring Car - menu shows with very glitched graphics, then doesn't respond to input
Sega Worldwide Soccer - menu shows with very glitched graphics, then doesn't respond to input
Sonic 3D - menus very glitchy but game works fine
Sonic R - very glitched graphics but playable
Virtua Cop - game works, but no targets are shown
Virtua Cop 2 - menu shows with very glitched graphics, then doesn't respond to input
Virtua Fighter - only shows left half of the screen
Virtua Fighter 2 - only shows top left of screen
Virtua Racing - shows menu but no response to input

I cannot reproduce these screen problems, it's working fine on my PAL Wii (CPU-20, system menu 4.1E) in 480p mode. Look for the right paths in the .ini and .cfg files.
Ok, I figured out why I was having a problem, and you can replicate it. Take your emulator and install it on a clean SD card. Don't put any games in the game folder. Boot the emulator with no games, and you should be able to see what I saw. I found that once I put games in the game folder, then the emulator loaded correctly. However, could anyone else confirm this? I'm on a Wii U, so I loaded Homebrew Browser. Load Seta GX from there. Play a game or two. Then open the main menu and hit B, to return to Homebrew Browser. Load Seta GX again. Does anyone get a "Could not open any devices" screen with a Quit and Retry option? The thing is that I'm not able to connect a WUPC or a Wiimote at this state, so I just have to reset my Wii U. Does anyone else get this?

Other than that, this emulator runs just as well as ZGX does. I think this actually plays some FMVs better than ZGX does, as the English translation of Policenauts loads and plays the FMVs. It's blurred, but it plays. Amazing improvements. I will do more though testing later. But thank you so much for your hard work. The wait was worth it.

That did it, but it's in black & white... either way, I see no advantage on this over Z-GX anyway...

hello there everyone, decided to made an account since i've been having some issues. so i installed 0.4 to work on my wii (american rvl-001) and there's two issues.
1, the app boots up to 480p by default apparently so it doesn't show up on my crt. don't know how to fix it so i just plugged it into my other tv with the hdmi converter and it shows up, but what actually shows up is a...
2. exception dsi. i have everything set up adequately, all folders are where it should be, my bios is in the app folder, but it doesn't boot up correctly. does it have something to do with my cfg file? i'm running this on usb 0:

Code:
bios=usb:/apps/SetaGX
games=usb:/vgames/Saturn
saves=usb:/saves/Saturn
carts=usb:/apps/SetaGX
covers=usb:/covers/Saturn

thanks in advance, would love to try this emulator as there seem to be some very exciting developments made for it much like wiistation, (which, unbeknownst to me it turns out, had two entire years of progress buried in its thread compared to the github) plus 240p is a must for me nowadays.

Version 0.4.1 just came out, you should give it a try! :)

I just tried the new version and some of the FMVs are getting better. The FMVs for Norse by Norsewest colors aren't red anymore, their colors are correct. All of the FMVs run great, but the first FMV for Interactive Entertainment goes to a dump screen on my Wii U. Can anyone confirm that it crashes on a real Wii? And the FMVs for Mr Bones are looking better, only just in a shade of red. And the game doesn't load, but that's to be expected. It's a difficult game to run. And Pebble Beach Golf Links plays it's FMV in full colors and a solid 60 FPS. Can't load the game yet, but it's amazing that it's running this good on a Wii U.

Also, I can confirm that controlling the error messages works with at least my Wii U Gamepad. But I still find that if I go to Homebrew Browser, load Seta GX, close it, back to Homebrew Browser, then open it again, I get the same "Could not open any devices" error. Now this isn't a problem for me, as I've made a custom Wii U forwarder, and it just resets my Wii U when I exit anyway. But I do still have that problem. Could anyone else confirm that, or maybe that's a unique Wii U problem? But anyway, it's a great improvement going forward. Thanks for your hard work

Thank you fadedled for the 0.4.1 release.
I'm using a PAL Wii on a PAL TV with RGB. 240p is working for me now.
Previously 0.4 displayed all in red when switching to 240p with the button sequience (I couldn't see anything by default). Now everything works as expected.

There's still a little thingy... the image is a little streched horizontally and part of it is missing on both sides. It's more obvious on the left side than the right side. The aspect ratio is slighty off because of that. I'll post a comparison image with Z-GX which shows the full picture or very close to it.

Again. Thanks for the quick release and fixing this.

probably because overscaning emulation is not implemented.

setagx booted up correctly for me last night so i finally got the chance to try it, though my tests were admittedly not too thorough

battle garegga was the game i tried the most and it ran at 50-60fps most of the time, with no major graphical glitches besides the options screen being mostly a black screen which was annoying, managed to change the screen to tate mode and it looked good

gunbird has major graphical glitches in the menus that make traversing them a living hell. the sprites move choppily but the backgrounds scroll smoothly, which is odd. the audio is stuttery, but the opening fmv didn't run too bad

radiant silvergun ran very well, barely anything to report on that one besides a couple framerate dips

the sonic jam overworld is slow and missing a bunch of textures, the game collection itself seems to run fine

that's what i tested, the emu clearly has legs and i'm excited to see what becomes of it. one consistent problem i had though is that there seems to be a bunch of overscan? particularly in the horizontal sides. my crt does have some overscan but it's particularly bad on this emulator. even then though i'm not sure if it's something from my end. but yeah i would love to see that getting fixed somehow if it isn't just me

turns out it's not just me, then

I suspect the emulator has problems with high res Saturn mode which is why fighters megamix looks normal but other fighters like VF2 are stretched out.
