Hi everyone! I’m the developer of PS Portal High Bitrate, an experimental open-source project exploring higher bitrate requests for local PS5-to-PlayStation Portal Remote Play sessions.
It does not require a jailbreak or firmware modification. The repository includes setup instructions, documented test observations and current limitations. Requested bitrate and actual video throughput are different, and results can vary between networks and firmware versions.
I’m also developing a mobile app to make setup and everyday use easier. The Android build has been working smoothly in my tests so far, with testing still ongoing. Things are looking promising on iOS too, and development is continuing. I’ll share another update as testing progresses.
The existing computer and Raspberry Pi versions will remain free and open source. I’ll continue development and support for Windows, macOS and Raspberry Pi.
I plan to offer the mobile app for a small fee to help fund continued development and testing. Purchasing it will not be required to use the existing open-source versions. Pricing and release details will be shared once finalized.
Source code, setup instructions and test notes
Feedback on picture quality, connection stability and reconnect behaviour would be useful. If you try it, please include your platform, firmware versions and the profile used.
The attached image is a preview of the mobile interface. Development and testing are ongoing.
