I guess what I'm trying to say is, don't immediately shit all over devs who use it (homebrew or indie, especially), because you're going to be scaring away a lot of cool projects for no reason.
Gen(erative) AI will always be rightfully shat on. If you're just having a thing gather you bunch of wrong code you have to tweak and sort through at the end of the day to actually make work and call it the easier solution, that's fine.

For the most part I use AI as a tool, since I'm also a dev. What you have to think of, outside of our area, is people are using it as if it were their own brain, thus hampering the growth and development. That's where the AI hate comes from. For you in your position it's not really a problem, but in other areas it just floods them with slop.

Also junior positions are not really being offered anymore. How would we get more mid and senior positions without the start?
Almost nothing, according to you guys, is stopping entry and junior levels from making their own sloppy toppy projects and showcasing those on their own wix site or github and bullshitting how many years it took them to develop it. That's still the beauty of your com tech field. If a person can prove their understanding of level of coding you'd need them to do and show you similar projects to yours as a company, why wouldn't you hire 'em?

its 2026, the year of slop
where everything made with AI leechware is rightfully deemed low quality slop and people/studios using it deserve no respect

also, in my country there's is this way of thinking where AI is slop for poor people who can't afford to watch a movie or buy a game, and real art is turning into something only the elite can pay for

Recruiting is crazy these days. Junior positions are being filled with tons of requirements thanks to AI. If I were hiring and someone showed me they can apply the code correctly (leetcode interviews are BS) and had the understanding then I would hire them.

So, it's like being a translator and only needing to know grammar and occasional quirks instead of the entire vocab, which makes it helluva easier to learn.

I think we may see that bubble burst this year. It is simply not a business where money can be made to sustain it. If I recall, they are basically borrowing money at this point to keep it up, which means they really have no more money of their own. It's like a Gold Rush scenario. The ones digging for gold aren't really getting anything, while the folks providing the supplies are making bank. In this case, one of them is Nvidia.
I'm not so sure about that. For large projects, you'll need the more expensive models and you'll spend quite a lot of tokens. Ideally you'd use 2 or 3 different models, so it can get quite a bit expensive.
At least for coding and plain text, AI is here to stay. The AI bubble I can really see bursting is the multimedia one.

I mean if you are up to the job and manage that way, then yeah I don't have issues with that. Not many people can do it tho, most of the bootcamp coders we got for the covid craze don't work in the field anymore

The only product I use that utilizes Ai is Photoshop, and I'm wondering if I should buy a cheap NPU for my open PCIe slot just for that. It's an older Ryzen 3800X machine with a 16GB 5060ti and 64GB of DDR4 3600. Not sure if the NPU makes more sense for a Photoshop workload, or if I should just upgrade to a 5800X3D chip instead.

humans can write AI off but most of the advancement is happening right under humans noses.

people think chatgpt, grok, etc are the epitone of AI. not even close.

my background is in industrial manufacturing processes and statistical process control. humans are a variation that often runs within the probabilities but at the same time we create special cause variation that goes outside of the process.

AI has learned enough of the process and how we humans create special cause variation to do its own experimentation.

the models available to the public arent even close to what is available in the private corporate world.

machine learning is outpacing human learning at this point in time and 2026 is the tipping of the scale where quantum AI will soon emerge. the computational power that AI already has with existing data centers we could be doing alot more with it to help humans.

but humans want to be entertained and use AI as a weapon to hold control of the balance of power. this will be our downfall. the datasets that we are providing will not lead to a positive outcome.

I'm mostly worried that it'll be indeed the year of AI. That is: a few weeks ago, the anthropic team revealed they made mythos, a tool so powerful it can hack itself into anything. They said it was too dangerous for the public, and only gave it to big tech to ensure everything got patched. Oh, right... And similar labs would probably be able to create something similar in 6-9 months.
Though understandable, it means that large companies have an unfair edge over smaller websites. But it's worse... Just yesterday, it was reported that the use of mythos wasn't just limited to the targeted firms anymore, as probing hackers had found their way to the tool.

Add to that the current geopolitical mess of today, and it's almost as if we're only waiting until a country faction gains access to AI advanced enough to steamroll through enemies's not-yet-updated banks, governments, militia, data centers, currency,...

ive been more intrigued with the physical achievements of machine learned models.

and also the insert of AI into playing video games and other stuff to provide superiority over the human

humans are outdated when computational power is what it is and once quantum AI emerges the already existing concepts from machine learning systems can evolve millions of times in milliseconds of our time.

humans arent united and tend to be mostly about power, control, and conformity. the amount of hate for differing opinions, looks, and ways of life have led to our own demise.

humans arent needed in the future and its humans fault for caring more about existential systems that have been adopted by choice and blind ignorance. you can only sweep the dust under the rug for so long until the rug can no longer hide the dust. humans imo have veered away from what made humans great. the most powerful forms of consciousness of love and compassion paired with the willingness to try to understand difference has been stamped out. alot of you have been trained to hate whats different in humans and to rely on technology to encase yourself in a bubble. the bubble isnt safe and when it pops there isnt any containment for ignorance and hatred of other humans. love one each other before its too late.

"2026 is the year of AI"

That sounds like a threat. Just kidding.

I did see an ad saying "Don't hire humans, hire this AI agent" something along the lines. That's clearly meant to annoy people.

Barely a month later and AI was used to find three critical vulnerabilities in the Linux kernel. It's getting hard for code maintainers to keep up.

As of the past few weeks, no one on my team writes code themselves anymore. This is also the pattern seen by any colleagues I have across the industry. If you work in tech, as a software engineer, the medium-term future of your job is piloting 3-5 AI agents in parallel like a coked-out, somehow-nerdier Shinji.
ai can only do what it's seen before, i.e. AI is no better than a tutorial

At the same time, AI can already be useful for everyday tasks when used as a support tool rather than a replacement for human thinking. Tools that help people analyze information, improve writing, or check their work are becoming more common. For example, platforms like https://getsolved.ai/ focus on things like improving text quality, detecting patterns, and reviewing content, which shows how AI can be applied in practical ways alongside human skills.
I think you’re right that most people only see the consumer side of AI and don’t realize how much development is happening behind the scenes. The public tools are just one part of the picture, and the applications in areas like manufacturing, research, and automation are probably where a lot of the biggest changes will happen. The important part is making sure these systems are used responsibly and actually solve problems instead of just creating more noise.

i dont think humans can help themselves when it comes to using AI responsibly . its a tool that alot of people are using as a weapon. too many different agendas from different people with a morality complex. what is good for some isnt good for others. AI wont bring unity when most of society is about power and control of others.

its the ignorance of those who already have power and control of others that scares me most about AI. these people think they will be able to control AI and use it as a weapon to empower themselves when they arent the driver behind the wheel. AI is interacting with alot of horrible humans and learning some of the worst aspects of humanity imo.

look how much its being used in global warfare. no checks and balances just thrown into geopolitical wars. lots of AI killing and attacking people that arent even involved in the wars they are being rolled out for. like ukraine and russia their AI / drone attacks often kill international shippers and people just trying to transport resources like grain and wheat. using AI to break down the resource economy is going to come back to bite the overpopulated world eventually. its easy to see but without any checks and balances the average person is just going to have to hang on for the ride and hope things dont go from bad to worse.

Sadly people can't use anything right when info becomes public. They misinterpret things way too easily and would rather abuse than enjoy.

Haters are always going to hate like they always have. Most important thing is to ignore them and do what you want.

I used to be one of them. Until I realized that AI will enable more people to make stuff in the Homebrew scene that current developers would say no to or try to stop from happening. Also the fact that a lot of people complaining about AI were those very Homebrew devs or trolls embroiled in culture war garbage made me lose respect for the anti-AI people and also want to distance myself from them. They are very toxic and most of the arguments they make hinge on tu-quoque (accusing the person they're arguing against of using AI) or abusing clinical language to accuse them of being mentally ill.

I'm ashamed to admit I was heavy on the AI psychosis bandwagon and called people schizos for making AI art or saying anything positive about AI. I regret that a lot, and I can't apologize enough for how much of a piece of shit I was, because even if you hate AI. Using clinical language to insult or discredit people is ableist and cruel.
