This is another source port of another MAME based emulator, this time targeting the V.Smile series of consoles (excluding the V.Smile Baby). Games can run with or without a BIOS, and dedicated BIOS / Region toggles allow you to switch easily. Currently, all normal V.Smile and V.Smile Motion (using the controller option only) games are supported, but ideally I'd like to implement support for the various peripherals that currently not even MAME support. More info can be found on the Github, please let me know what you think and if you have any suggested features! https://github.com/1timewire1/D.Smile_nx/

To install, just make a dsmile folder in your switch folder on the SD card

KNOWN ISSUES / TODO
  • Performance isn't great on stock clocks. Either use a slight overclock, or enable the frame skip option in Graphics
  • Sound will occasionally die briefly before returning. Currently there's no workaround, it shouldn't be a persisting issue, but worst case restart the emulator.
  • Currently only .bin is supported, I'm gonna look into supporting .zip as well for games
  • Cover Art view is supported, but not the default, due to images having to be manually added (SteamGridDB does not catalog V.Smile games, so I couldn't find a way to remotely get covers)
  • V.Smile digitizer, Motion, Smart Book, Smart Keyboard, Art Studio Controller, Microphone, and PC Pal compatibility all needs to be explored.
  • There are a few unknown region flags that I left enabled (they function but I'm not sure what their purpose is). If I come across what they're meant for when trying to implement other features, those will be updated.

Thank you for the port!.. :)

I can't manually add cover arts, unfortunately. Here's my list of the installed games in a .bin format, they works all good:

Trying to add the cover for the game, named The Lion King - Simba's Big Adventure (USA).png, in a .png format located near the ROM. Like this:
The Lion King - Simba's Big Adventure (USA).png
But the app can't show any pictures. :( Please help..

That's weird, I just tested your attached image and was able to attach it to a game fine (please ignore my library being the same game 6 times at the moment :rofl2:). Are you sure you put the .png in the same folder as the games with the same exact filename? Did you change your default game folder (if so try putting the image in sdmc:/switch/dsmile/games and let me know if that fixes it)?

Yep, I am sure, sir..

No, I didn't change it, at all.

Nooo..

Maybe I need to arrange games in such a 'tile-view' instead of plane text list, as on my screenshot? And how to do that?..
Oooh yeah, there's the option to switch in the Launcher settings. Let me know if the covers show up for you after switching that
