Latest Ace Combat 8 trailer dives into the game's multiplayer options

With the latest game in the popular air combat series just on the horizon, Bandai Namco have today released a trailer showing the online "endgame mode". This online mode will store its save data separately to the game's campaign, and feature its own means of progression. You'll be able to create and customise not only your plane this time around, but your avatar too, with free roaming around the air base with up to 100 players being possible.

We also get a glimpse of the two means of playing online. Co-Op Assault sees players compete in a PvE environment as teams of four to try to get the highest score. This seems comparable to the typical campaign missions of the series, with additional rewards given to the team with the highest score at the end. Simple coordination is possible via pre-made messages and emojis. Co-Op Warfare by comparison is the game's core PvP mode, featuring a more typical dogfighting scenario. Players can increase their threat level by surviving longer in a match, granting you a score multiplier as it increases. Taking down an enemy with a high threat level will also net you a hefty bonus.

Special limited-time missions will also appear from time to time, seeing you fight colossal weapons from the series and difficult AI squadrons.

Ace Combat 8 is set to launch on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on the 2nd of October.

I really enjoyed Ace Combat 7, so I am kinda excited for this. It does look good.
Very much in the same boat! Seeing so much multiplayer PvE content has me super excited. I never really gave AC7 online the time of day as somebody who isn't too enthusiastic about PvP. Really looking forward to it.

Looks very nice. Tho, considering it's Bamco, I do wonder, whether it will block people running Linux, due to EAC.

There are far too many games coming up that I want to play and nowhere near enough time. Hopefully I can fit the odd sortie in here and there.
