Three years ago South Korea's now ousted president had pushed for a ban on the traditional farming, sale, and consumption of dog meat.

Long considered an important health boosting meal for summertime, dog meat is now eaten less and less by the younger generation. A recent survey showed only 5% of South Koreans have eaten dog meat in the past year.

In January the sale will finally stop, and so this is the last summer to eat the food traditionally said to give energy and cool the body. Elderly patrons of traditional dog meat stalls have lamented the ban, and many are traveling long distances for one final meal.

In the future, it will be necessary to travel to China's Guangxi, famous for dog meat, or other regions of Southeast Asia to enjoy the delicacy.

So, it'll be back to cats after this? Once upon a time I saw a KBBQ spot literally between 2 vet clinics and I couldn't stop laughing halfway back to home.

I spoke to a guy who's eaten it and he said it was great. In China some people call it "fragrant meat" - 香肉 lol...

I guess ideally we wouldn't eat any animals.

I wonder if certain species are better/ different. Like are Chihuahua better in Taco's, and German Sheppard better in sausage.

Yum.
