For some time now, I've been playing the canceled version of Blur (a racing game by Bizarre Creations and Activision) for the Nintendo DS, and several questions have been running through my mind about whether it would be possible, hypothetically, to make some internal changes and possibly mod the game.
So, I'd like to ask:
So, I'd like to ask:
- Would it be possible to replace the models of any unlicensed cars from previous builds (like Milestone 9 or Project Freeze) with cars from earlier builds (like Milestone 2, which features licensed cars)?
- The models for these builds are compressed into a file called vfs.zip, which is quite common in games developed by Firebrand Games for the Nintendo DS. However, cars from earlier builds are saved in .nsbmd files, while those from later builds are saved in .n files. I tried to find a way to replace one of the vehicles, but I wasn't successful, and I couldn't find much information about it either. Again, vfs.zip isn't exclusive to Blur DS; this type of file is found in other Firebrand Games titles for the Nintendo DS.
- Is there a way to modify the files related to the different languages?
- Blur DS never had other languages because the game was canceled. The game itself includes a multitude of languages to choose from, but it would still be in English regardless of the language you selected (like Spanish). It's to my knowledge that other Nintendo DS games like Japan-exclusive Tomodachi Collection have a community patch that translates the game text into a language other than Japanese. That's what I'm referring to, although I understand that the process might be too involved due to the nature of Firebrand Games' titles, and because this is a canceled game that was never released.
