I'm having a strange audio issue with my New 3DS LL.
The symptoms are:
When I power on the console, the speakers work for about one second (I can hear the startup sound).
After that, the speaker audio cuts out completely.
The console continues to work normally.
If I plug in headphones, the audio works perfectly with no distortion or interruptions.
The problem started after replacing the bottom LCD. No work was done on the top screen or the audio circuitry during the repair.
I've also noticed something interesting: if I go into System Settings and switch the audio mode between Stereo, Mono, and Surround, the speakers will sometimes start working again. However, this only happens occasionally, and the issue usually returns after rebooting the console or at random.
For reference, the console is running the latest version of Luma3DS, and I installed CFW by following the official 3ds.hacks.guide. Since the headphones work perfectly and changing the audio mode can temporarily restore speaker output, I'm leaning toward a hardware issue, but I wanted to mention my software setup just in case.
I haven't found any obvious physical damage so far, but I'm wondering if anyone has experienced a similar issue.
My questions are:
Could this be caused by a partially connected or damaged top screen ribbon cable?
Could the speaker amplifier or another audio-related component be failing?
Does the fact that changing the audio mode sometimes restores speaker output point to a specific component or circuit?
Are there any tests or measurements you would recommend to help narrow down the cause?
