"Mario Kart Wii Deluxe X" mod has been updated to v10 bringing over 700+ tracks

One of the most ambitious and complete hacks for Mario Kart Wii has just received a brand new update, with Mario Kart Wii Deluxe getting its v10 (X) release as of just a few hours ago.

Mario Kart Wii Deluxe X is a complete modification of the original Mario Kart Wii which aims to bring an outstanding number of new tracks to the beloved classic from the Wii era, with over 700 tracks being added into the game, including almost every track from every other Mario Kart video game in existence, from the original Super Mario Kart and Mario Kart 64, all the way up to the most recent Mario Kart game, Mario Kart World on the Switch 2, and even some of the most obscure titles like Tour and Arcade GP.

Additionally, Deluxe X comes in 4 coloured editions, Blue, Red, Green and Purple, with each one offering different kinds of perks so the player can choose which one they prefer over another version, and play the mod to their liking. As a quick summary, these are some of the features from each version:
  • Blue: Base version which tries to mimic the latest Mario Kart (World). The update brings character selection animations for Mario & Pauline from Mario Kart World as well as interface and music from MKW, new vehicles.
  • Red: This version tries to mimic Mario Kart Tour. The update brings new skins for characters, original music for official Nintendo tracks.
  • Green: Super Smash Bros. style version, with characters from multiple franchises. The update adds new characters, with Kirby and Olimar joining the roster, updated Pacman and Bomberman, Smash-style music for official tracks.
  • Purple: Riivolution version, which allows for character mods and other changes. The update brings the Purple edition back as a coloured option, with original elements to customize, custom music on all tracks.
There's also more features overall for the mod:
  • Each version has a different item box design, with Blue having a MKW style, Red having MK8 style and Green having original boxes
  • Double item boxes are now a feature, similar to those from Mario Kart Double Dash
  • Real time item tracking
  • Optimized Tour tracks
  • Shock squishing
  • Duration bar for Golden Mushrooms
  • Star animations like in Mario Kart DS
  • A new Blooper
  • Statistics changes in some vehicles
  • Framerate options
  • A grand total of 752 tracks!
The mod is compatible with both the Dolphin emulator and real Wii hardware via Riivolution loading.
Those interested in trying out this mod can do so by visiting the Mario Kart Wii Deluxe X mod's Discord server, and choosing the version of your liking. Alternatively, users can download the Purple (Riivolution) version from the Custom Mario Kart Wiiki . Remember, that you're required to own a copy of Mario Kart Wii in order to play this mod.

4 versions for a single-release game is stupid, but the mod itself looks interesting.
That is mainly due to the fact that modders still can't add characters to MKWii without replacing them (whereas they can add tracks without replacing them). Same applies to vehicles.
It also is not possible yet to have an options menu to switch between soundtracks so this is their only way to give players a choice. Nobody would say no to a mod that includes all features from each edition but again, since this is not possible (yet), this is the best they can do and since all versions are crossplay-able as I said, I don't see an issue here.

This doesn't change my thoughts on it.

There are hundreds of tracks made by hundreds of people, so that's to be expected.
yeah i feel like alot of tracks in mk mods can be hit or miss in general for this very reason, Star Slope in CTGP-7 (not a mkwii mod but all mods of mario kart that imports tracks share this issue) is a big reason why i play in private lobbies, but the tracks that do hit on the other hand...

It took me like 15 seconds to get to the download links.

Eh. What is wrong in getting a bit of Discord channel activity for something you put hundreds of collective hours on? The hacking scene does not necessarily have to be an endless thankless task unlike people like you think it is supposed to be.

Discord is not a CDN. It is also impossible to find anything on Discord if you dont already know it is on discord. And even when you are already inside discord, have you ever tried using their search? It’s terrible.

So while it all may seem nice now, see you in 10 years when everybody has moved on and it is literally impossible to find it back

it'd be amazing if all the characters could be worked into the game as alternate skins/costumes similar to Ermii Kart DS (L/R button on character select)
