For those that have played it, is the game fun? I'm intrigued, but I've heard mixed feedback on Palworld's gameplay.
In my opinion, it sure is. A lot of monster catching, boss battles, crafting, ressource-collecting, hunting, etc.
The story is not "predominant" in there, but afaik, there will be more lore in v1.0. There is also a couple of side missions they added in the few latest updates.

If you were into Pokemon but felt like it lacked of gameplay improvement over time, or that it felt "not adult" enough, I suggest you give it a try.

Thanks for the response. What kind of battle system does it have? Is it JRPG, or is it realtime combat?

Real time, open world, with some dungeon system with bosses and ressources. You can control some pals, but for the most parts, you control your human

Ha, that's interesting. Thanks again. I know I had looked up some gameplay footage, but I didn't remember seeing any combat.

Maybe I should put Palworld on my to-do list.

I'm not much into open world or survival games nor Pokemon but I really got addicted on Palworld for a while. Haven't touched since but still. If mixing these concepts seems like a cool idea to you, then it might be worth checking it out.

I'm seeing more and more announcement about Palworld 1.0
I think it's coming soonish (a month? Maybe? I think it should be out by summer)

Last trailer before the release in few hours

Gonna start over when it releases, but won't really get into it until after I come back from vacation (leaving next week). But, looking at that trailer, I get the feeling they are continuing to do what they've done from the beginning. Present a number of aspects in the trailer that won't actually be possible in the game. Like, any scene in the trailer that doesn't show the typical UI elements can't really be trusted for gameplay accuracy, imo.

They recently revealed that the patch notes were a 27-pages pdf file. What will be possible, what will not be possible. No idea, but there will be A LOT coming.

I'm sure there is. It's a big reason they recommend people start over when they release it. But I'm not expecting anything drastically different from the core gameplay, which from the trailer where you know it's gameplay, seems the same as before. Maybe it's full of balancing changes. Maybe they added an actual story with progression.

Nevertheless, their method for how their trailers are constructed has not changed one bit, and have always shown off things that never come to fruition, because it's just that easy to create a cinematic with a engine like UE that "looks" like gameplay, but is purely scripted for the cinematic.

They confirmed the the story would be improved by a lot. They confirmed at least two new regions (sky island and world tree island). Over 27 new pals confirmed (data mining says over 60, so a lot weren't shown yet). So I doubt these 27 pages are filled with "only balance stuff". Of course there will be a lot, but I doubt it will be half of them.

I do have one issue with the game prior to v1.0, but it's more of a personal irritant, and that is when you find the perfect spot for a base, you never have a reason NOT to use it with each play through. The one on the hill next to the Sealed Realm of the Guardian, for instance, is one such location. It has a plentiful number of ore and coal nodes, and is in such a place where nobody can get to it. You don't even need a flying mount or high enough stamina anymore because they placed air currents around it to propel players up. The pals/enemies that can spawn there are of a high enough level that would typically hinder a low level from taking the spot, but because Beegardes can spawn there, it makes it relatively easy, using the cliffs to avoid them blowing up in your face.

While it is simple enough to just not use it, it's one of those psychological perceptions where I feel like if I'm not using it, I'm hurting my progression because it's such a sweet spot. It's like in other games where there is that one special weapon or item you MUST use when you have it, but in such cases, those tend to be much further into the game, so you work for it. But this is a case where one can essentially rush through everything near the start to claim it.
