Xbox to increase in price again in August, Series S set to hit $500

Remember when you could get an Xbox Series S for $300? Those were the days. Microsoft has today announced the latest in their console price hikes, seeing their once-affordable system now exceed what the more powerful Series X cost at launch. Set to come into effect on the first of August, you can find an overview of the increases below:
  • Xbox Series S (512GB): $399 ➜ $499 (25% Increase)
  • Xbox Series S (1TB): $449 ➜ $599 (33% Increase)
  • Xbox Series X (1TB Digital): $599 ➜ $749 (25% Increase)
  • Xbox Series X (1TB): $649 ➜ $799 (23% Increase)
In their press release, Microsoft shine a light on the state of the industry, noting that games consoles are being hit particularly hard on the back of them typically being sold at a loss out of the gate. With less headroom to eat costs, they're inevitably passed onto consumers. With Microsoft expecting another doubling of storage and memory prices by fall of 2027, future price increases also seem likely.

Another Xbox price increase? Shocking. That’s what happens when you put a F*ckbook‑trained AI executive in charge of a gaming platform: everything gets worse except the boot animation, which is now two seconds faster. Truly next‑gen

I contradict, the Series S is ok, the X is a beast. I can play 4 generations of Xbox games out the box. (OG, X360, X1, XSeries), then with dev mode (free btw), I can play/emulate every game system up to PS3/ Wii. There is alot of haters, but I love my xbox. To each they own I guess. Is PS3 even on any PS4/5 yet? I don't even know honestly.
can you play pirated 360 on it? cos I can on my 360 :D

I doubt many people buy the series s anymore according to video game chartz Current hardware sales are down roughly 46.5% year-over-year, as the current generation ages and hardware costs rise across the tech sector

Series S for 500$ is diabolical, is barely a stronger PS4 Pro (like NS2) without physical support, + 800$ for Series X is STUPID, how can a Series X be almost 2 times more expensive than Switch 2? a Xbox One X gives pretty much the same and is WAY cheaper lol

Please review the history of the past 8 months of dramatically higher RAM and storage prices -- an era known as the RAMcopalypse, before commenting in this or pretty much any other subject. It's embarrassing when someone essentially asserts that MSFT should sell their consoles for hundreds less than they cost to make.
