Followed @adam_odell template (even if I understood how to make my own directly). Here are two personal ones:
Serious Sam: The Next Encounter (PALG3BP9G)
Xeno Crisis (PAL ? GCRPBM. They have an NTSCGCREBM over on GameTDB)

Download the appropriate .bnr file in each folder.
I've also included all the assets used in it, even if you could extract them from the provided WAD and project files.
I noticed you submitted Xeno Crisis with my cobbled-together system. Thank you. I've incorporated it onto the site. I also took your data from here and incorporated Serious Sam as well. I removed Sickwater64's request for Next Encounter since it is now fulfilled!

I hope I don't sound too nagging below:
About the site submission- you don't need to put the files in a folder in the archive, they can be at the root, they are auto-foldered based on upload data. One last detail, the WAV you sent me wasn't 16-bit and Sharpii wasn't having that for BNS conversion, so I had to make it 16-bit first.

A less important thing- I'd prefer submissions normalized to NTSC-U IDs (E) if 1) the game exists in that region, 2) what you're submitting isn't a region-specific variation (different title, or art style for the logo, language, etc.). I am for hosting other region variants if they're different. I'm just treating the (E) variant as the "default". The way USBLoaderGX works, I can make the "default" a three-letter code, which means it will cover all regions (USBLoaderGX will auto rename it to what the game needs). I can of course supply explicit PAL/NTSC-J/French/etc. banners when they have unique region codes, and USBLoaderGX will prioritize those first before trying the three-char-code (in your case, GCR, G3B). The only change you need to make is upon submission, submit it with the (E) region code unless it's explicitly specific to another region in some way. Xeno Crisis and Serious Sam seem to be identical enough in NTSC-U and PAL (English) regions, so I normalized them to the NTSC-U codes.

There is one point of contention all this made me think of- I use three-character names on the filesystem for USBLoaderGX, as stated, when it's not a specific version in particular, and this does make it effectively "regionless" in its usage. My direct download (click a banner) is relying on a "fullid" value (which is what you put in via the submission form), which always downloads it with the full, explicit banner name. This is never regionless and due to my NTSC-U bias, it will always have an (E) code. You will have to manually rename it to (P) or whatever in these situations. I might figure out a way to set the output region for manual download, but manual download wasn't the main intent of the site.

Since you didn't submit me Serious Sam directly, this isn't as important- but your asset for I assume the IconBack wasn't called that and wasn't 170x96. It was like 128x96 or something? Unless I misunderstood what the asset was. I fixed it for my build script, at the least. Just padded the width out and renamed it. I then took your WAV and resampled it to 32kHz to make the jingle.wav, then I finally built it.

Thank you for your submissions!

@adam_odell I have been away from this for over a year as my life got crazy busy for a while!

To say you and others in this thread have been carying the torch is an understatement, seeing that site you put together along with the improvements to the actual process legit brought a tear to my eye. <3

Been playing with console modding for nearly 15 years and this was my first contribution to the modding world. To see it take off like this, even for a short while has been amazing.

Now, lets get these to be the default USBLoaderGX pulls from and I'll be happy ;)
I mean, I'm not sure if everything I did was a pure improvement, some of it was just for my convenience, haha. I'm grateful that you appreciate it, though.

Still, I wouldn't have done this without yours and others' work- I probably wouldn't have been curious of the inner workings at all if your template didn't exist. There was already a good foundation, and people had submitted a lot of games. The lack of consistent download methods, as well as it not being easily hooked up to USBLoaderGX is what motivated me. I decided to take it further and homogenize the banners a bit with some scripting, and here we are now.

I've fooled around with various mods, but this is probably the biggest thing I've done in this way, if not the first.

I'm not against it being the default, but I'm not sure the community should be jumping on some stranger who's got the keys to the house and it's a subpage of a page on a freely-hosted server. I'm not going to flake out, but something could still go wrong.

I'm also not against people keeping backups or mirrors of this page. My server might be, lol. Just keep it up to date. If someone wants to be "the" host for it and we can make it more official- give it a better URL, that's cool too.

EDIT: I went ahead and made some modifications to the banner and request forms:
  • I made the styling a little more consistent between them
  • Added a detail to banner submission describing NTSC-U ID preference
  • Added a basic captcha with a "secret" multiplier (very obvious, I'm just hoping if any dumb bots ever hit my forms, it won't understand the context)
I did the latter because I thought it was pretty bold of me to just have that open like that where anything could just junk me up. I'm sure some stuff still could, but hey! Security through obscurity!!

Hi, these banners look great! But when i download them from the website and try to apply them to custom WADs they seem to break the system menu, and i really don't know why. Some of them did work (the ones from the first post), but the ones downloaded from the website break the system menu when applied to custom WADs. Is there a fix for this issue?

Edit: found a way to make them work! First i had to create a custom WAD with WiiGSC using the banners from the website, then extract the assets from that WAD and then use those assets for the gamecube forwarder i'm trying to create

I feel like there's differences between the formats when used in those contexts? If you did brick, glad you recovered. Damn.

It might be good to sticky this thread, but I'm not going to push for it. I do wonder if the increased visibility would help, as organic activity does not seem to favor this thread. Said organic activity might be evidence that it doesn't deserve to be stickied! I'd like others to engage with this too. I might do a few more myself some time here, but no guarantees!

@adam_odell

I hope you don't mind - but I just added all the banners in your repository to banner.rc24.xyz. It's the source that USB Loader GX and WiiFlow use to download the banners. It replaces many banners by Abz, a former scene member.

@blackb0x was considering making a new banner repository if I'm not mistaken, but if he does that I will keep mine up so that people on older builds can download them

Redump.org moved over to Redump.info - you might want to change the link on your site
Post automatically merged:

@adam_odell - @blackb0x asked if I could get the GameCube logo removed at the top of your banners so that the existing banners we have will match, since those don't have the logo. I made a script to remove them all and replaced em

I'm basically waiting for someone to recreate all of the GameCube banners from Larsen's repo, since I personally think that mixing banner styles looks unappealing.

Larsen was kind enough to remove the banner headers from his copies, which does help to blend the old banners with the newer ones. However, if someone were to recreate all of the old GameCube banners from Larsen's repo, I'd attempt to implement an option in USB Loader GX that gives users the ability to hide the GameCube banner headers.

Ideally, I'd want to copy the new banners into a repo that I own. That way, I can guarantee that the repo is unlikely to ever vanish overnight and that its contents won't change drastically, because I won't add or accept anything that doesn't follow a strict visual style.

I got an e-mail from someone who was confused about my x ? multiplier "captcha" on request submission, so I made my intent a little clearer. Might replace it with something better, but for now it should be even less confusing than it was. I'm probably out of my depth, here.

Of course that's fine. I can't speak for everyone who made a banner, but I'm fine with my part of it.

Thank hell, redump.org has been awful for a while.
It looks like the search URL format changed, so I need to see if I can assemble things the way I did (or better than I used to) for the new site.
Site is now updated to the new Redump URL.

Same as above- I'm okay with that!

Beach Spikers now has fixed audio. It was clipped to hell and sourced from the arcade version's soundtrack. I replaced it with the GC version's.

I've updated issue reporting to store to flat files on the site, and other users will be able to see what issues have been submitted (and read their contents).

@adam_odell I'm glad I was able to add them. I was a little surprised that no one mentioned it to me, but yeah all of them can be downloaded through GX / WiiFlow now.

GameTDB is getting a revamp as well, but the link won't change when it's done

Introduced a massively overengineered and admittedly slop-coded version of the submit form. It seems to work. I've had to beat my head over it for days now. There's probably edge cases still, feel free to try it out. It can automate a lot of crap for you and take all sorts of formats (some I wouldn't recommend!). I was able to hook up a seam carver into it too if you provide it off-aspect assets for the backgrounds. You really should just feed it the right stuff to get the best results, but you can probably throw together a kusoba (shit banner!) with this no problem. Only thing that'd make it easier is like "just put a YouTube link where the music goes" or some shiz (actually implemented now but be prepared to wait!). The live previewer is pretty cool, albeit a bit fast and not 100% accurate. it also doesn't match my logo centering/how it appears on real hardware and in my baked previews. Might fix that some time.

I've had to update the tutorial a bit as well.

Lipumotion made two submissions:
Kirby Air Ride (how many versions do we need???)
Sonic Riders

I'm featuring both as main now and relegated what it replaced to alternate.
New pulls for these IDs will be this- if you wish to pull them, delete what's cached, or manually download and overwrite.

Also, I updated X-Men II: Rise of Apocalypse with new sound as I had forgot to normalize it and it was using a track from the wrong version of the game/lower quality. Ditto to the pulls.

Still, thanks for trying out the submission form!

sasook request fulfilled: Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell

This is a fun one, because I really did just use my submission form to do everything and then ran the output through my banner and site build script. I didn't open an image or audio editor, lol.

Raw inputs!

Jingle:

Ripped with yt-dlp to its native Opus in highest quality

The seam-carve is really too heavy and freezes the browser up a bit on the larger banner background- and I'm curious how weaker computers fare, but it actually works really well when given these kinds of hero images that have lots of simplistic detail on the sides.

P.S.: The on-site seam carving isn't going to give you as good of results as something like BoltBait's seam carving plugin in paint.net or ImageMagick's liquid rescale. It's Sobel/backward energy only, and it can mangle cartoon art pretty bad, even on mild aspect changes. It worked great for my Splinter Cell banners, but it's showing lots of weaknesses the further I force its hand. I still recommend doing the work manually and if using this automation, checking its output for quality. Going to look into an alternative for carving on-site that has forward energy/a better algorithm.

Thank you for the crazy amount of effort you put into organizing things. This is something many people have wanted for years.

I made a banner for the first time and submitted it but I don't see it on the submissions page yet. Is there typically a delay or review process before it appears on the site? I remade the banner for Custom Robo by cryptid since their version had audio that cut off abruptly. I changed the music entirely to a more mellow track from the game that fades out naturally. I also improved how the banner background was sized/cropped.

Side request: As a preference I greatly prefer the channels without the GC cover banner at the top like how Larsenv edited them. Any chance we could get a version of the template on your site that removes it or doesn't add it to begin with? Either way I intend on making (or remaking) at least a few more.

EDIT: I remade and submitted two more banners for Beyond Good and Evil and Enter the Matrix. I used completely different art and music for both with an emphasis on quality. Also I resubmitted the Custom Robo banner again with improved cropping compared to my first attempt, so please disregard the first one.

While it was effort for sure, the site is a bit of a bodge job and needs fixes- as well as a keen human eye on some things I haven't given enough attention to.

I don't have a public list of submissions currently. What happens when you hit submit, is it dumps all the files on the server and then sends me an e-mail. I can then retrieve the files, deleting them in the process, I then build it on my computer/transfer it back to the site with scripts. Anyway, the site adds some random characters to the banner's folder name if multiple submissions occur with the same ID before retrieval. I was able to determine a duplicate and approved the second submission. I tend to assume the second submission is the desired one when this happens.

I could run another URL for a database of bannerless versions that are kept up to date with the main database. This would almost double my storage usage on the server though, and considering I'm using a free thing for this, I don't want to push it too hard. Because I figure I'm not going to get financial support for this (which is totally fine, I'd honestly feel a little weird getting support for it anyways), I don't really want to start having a bleeding cost for a cute little hobby project. Throw in the fact that you (and others) will likely make versions of banners that already exist (and I prefer to keep the old ones as alternates), as well as the addition of new banners (there's a bunch of games missing), I want the headroom for that first and foremost.

Your banners are approved, by the way.

(Also, if I did a bannerless version, I'd want to build them with modified animation/layout data, so we don't need a dummy banner image.)

Thanks for the clarification and I appreciate the effort you've put in. I've got no complaints.

Also I double checked to see how my submissions are appearing on the site and it seems like Enter the Matrix and Beyond Good & Evil somehow duplicated the original ones that were already on there without my changes. I just resubmitted those two in case they need to be rebuilt again.

They don't need to be rebuilt. Hard refresh the page. You're seeing the cached webp prior to the alternate migration/yours replacing it. Going to see if I can tokenize the image paths so the browser knows when and only when it's a new image. Caching shouldn't affect anything else. Actual server BNR downloaded will be as it should be. Aggressive image caching is at fault here.

Ah cool. I had no idea hard refreshing was a thing.
