Hello, everyone. Any help is appreciated. I am not a homebrewer, really. I just want to see if I can recover this Wii.

About ten years ago, my brother and his friend bricked their Wii. My brother told me he “turned the Wii off while updating BootMii” but admits he ultimately doesn’t remember what he did.

This is a black Wii with no GameCube controller ports. The original SD card that was used to hack this Wii has been lost, most likely wiped and repurposed for something else. I have no Wii controller and no sensor bar, as I’m trying to figure out if the Wii is reparable before buying them (my brother took most of the Wii stuff with him to college).

The state of the Wii is that I can turn it on, the power light turns green, and the disk inserter thing glows blue for a second. I can hear disk activity. But there’s no video output. Not even a black screen.

Is this Wii salvageable, or will I need to buy a new one? Thank you for reading.

Black consoles were too new to install bootmii boot2. Which in your case is both good and bad. The good news is that if the console were shutdown mid-bootmii installation, it would have been installing as IOS (not boot2), so this should not cause a brick. If boot2 was messed up then it it's a different story. The bad news is that without bootmii boot2, whatever brick u have may not be recoverable (especially without a nand backup).

At this stage I think u can only really try 2 things. First is to make sure your TV inputs are set correctly and there aren't any video mode issues where your TV is to blame. Second, hold reset while the console is powering on, with any luck, you'll be greeted by the priiloader menu. From there it may be recoverable (if it's an older version of preloader u may need a gamecube controller to navigate the menu as u don't have a pre-synced wiimote), but if u can't load the main menu, priiloader, bootmii or anything then there's no real hope to salvage this console and it can be scrapped for parts or whatever.

I plugged in an old NES into the same TV inputs and the NES's video worked, so I don't think the inputs are the problem. I've tried holding down the reset button for Priiloader, but nothing. So, it would appear that the Wii is truly dead. I'll have to get a new one.

Thank you for the help, though, I really appreciate it!
