Hello all, not too long ago, my Switch OLED would no longer boot into CFW, I brought it back to the guy who did the original Pi mod chip installation, but he told me after a few weeks that the motherboard was basically bricked after some CFW.
I found this weird because it still booted into normal FW. The chip itself blinked a lot of red and then some yellow, and it would boot into normal FW? From what I gathered, it basically came down to the data0 cable getting loose? So, not sure what he meant by CFW etc...

At this point, it doesn't really matter as he has it working again (he installed a new motherboard? Is that even possible?). But upon getting the Switch back, I feel like I'm unsure how to proceed now.

Can I ask how to load *legally obtained backups*? And if not where should I go to ask about this? Normally I would put one on the SD card through DBI, and then use one of the apps to get updates for the game.
But the modder basically told me not to really go online with it? I'm not sure how to proceed. Do you guys get updates *for legal backups* from another site or something?

Also in Hakate I need to boot into SYSMMC? From what I know, (and thats not much) it would be more secure to boot into actual EMUMMC? But when I try that I get a red text basically telling me to press any button to reboot, so there is no EMUMMC?

I really want a good and stable Modded Switch, but i'm unsure how to proceed, I don't really care to get banned from the big N, but I also don't want to brick it again, which I'm still not entirely sure of if it wasn't a botched soldering job?

Is there anyone who could point me in the right direction? Either by replying or DMing me? Thank you!

Hi, I got a modded OLED too. . .I did my own chip install. I won't bash on your mod chip installer too much. Uhh, your modder is kinda right and kinda wrong. You have to make a emummc through hekate. There are plenty of guides on setting up your emummc. Please do partition based and not folder based as it's much more stable. You can access the internet in emummc, that is a misconception, the only difference is you make it not speak to nintendo servers. This is done through a config file in your atmosphere folder called exosphere.ini, you can also use some homebrew called 90dns and to test it use dns tester https://github.com/meganukebmp/switch_90DNS_tester
all of your gamecard dumps go into the emunand, you ca use whatever you prefer DBI, cyberfoil, tinwoo, etc. Iv'e had my modded switch for like 2 years now and I still play fortnite at 60fps online. Now about your modder. . .If dat0 cable is loose then just like. . .reseat it. It's a little flex table that slides underneath the emmc chip, there is also ground points so you can secure the flex cable so it doesn't move that much. Maybe he did the kamikaze method which is grinding away the pcb to expose the dat0 line and he botched it (which makes sense since he replaced the motherboard)
