Hello all,

I'm in the process of modding my pal snes to 60hz.
I already lifted pins 24 & 30.

I'm following a guide that involves putting a switch in between the wires and the voltage regulator.
Because I only find guides involving a switch and only some random posts here and there on modding without a switch.

As I only use a everdrive to play the games (some on display) I was wondering if I could mod it without a switch and have permanent 60hz?

Could I just solder the wire from pin 24 and 30 to ground or will it still involve putting a 2.2kOhm resistor?

Thank you in advance.

The Switch is recommended because not all games works fine with the mod, so you need a way to temporary disable it.

Changing the clock can mess some software.

Another option for a switchless mod is the supercic mod (It uses the reset button as a mode switcher (PAL, NTSC, or Auto), removing the need for another switch to be added).

Thank you for the help, it works fine with an Everdrive!

I yet have one more question just out of curiosity.
(If I say this correctly) my everdrive now recognises my snes as NTSC, as pal roms don't boot and NTSC roms do, which is perfect for me.

If I now also lift pin 4 of the lockout chip and ground it, my pal cartridges will work again, correct?
Or will the pal cartridges be forced to run in 60hz with messed up speed?
(I understand that this is the reason to built in a switch but was just curious).

The PAL cartridges would "run", yes, however in most games you would get a "This game pak is not designed for your Super NES" message, because they check if the console runs in 50Hz at bootup.

Hello, sorry for replying to a message from 2 years ago, im looking to do a similar thing.

After doing the 60fps mod, did you have to do any other mods to get the picture to display with colour properly? I read somewhere that it might be necessary to do so otherwise it will be in black and white.

If you did have to do a mod, could you send me a link to what info you used for it?
