What do you want to see in the next Nintendo Direct?

iwata_direct.jpg

With rumours circulating about a Nintendo Direct in the coming days and weeks, fans are left speculating and hoping as to what might be included. At the centre of all of this is the fabled remake of Ocarina of Time, but there are also plenty other games that have previously been announced that we haven't heard much about. Games like Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave, Pokemon Winds and Waves, and The Duskbloods.

For those of you who already have a Switch 2, what games are you chomping at the bit to know more about? And for those who don't, what games would tip the scales to make you want to pick up the system? Let us know your thoughts below!

Tangent before I answer the damn question: I think I've come to the conclusion that Nintendo may not be for me generally any more, which is odd because they have been a significant part of my life. I was at the launch of the switch 2, but that was mostly childhood wish fulfillment because I was 15 at the launch of switch 1 and didn't have the cash or autonomy to make it to that launch.

Since the launch of the original switch, I have primarily become a PC gamer. Additionally, I have one of those android handhelds that's pretty capable on its own. 5 years ago, I would've said I would love to see more third party ports- Elden Ring News, Final Fantasy, etc. These days, I'd rather just buy those on steam. If I really need to play portably, or I can stream or use my laptop rather than buy twice with no cross save.

All of that being said, I want to see a lot of first party Nintendo stuff/things that are only possible on Nintendo hardware, because that's all that will get me touch my switch.

No 3d Mario or new Zelda in the first year of switch 2 was certainly a choice. I'd like to see them rectify one of those series. No, I am not part of the camp that thinks Bananza was a 3d Mario game with a donkey kong skin. I also am not talking about the OOT remake. I think that's a shoe-in. I would like to see a new, classic 3d or 2d Zelda game.

I would also like to see an Intelligent Systems Paper Mario. I think the TTYD sales may have been high enough to convince them to go back to classic PM.

For NSO, I would like to see one of two things. The obvious one is Wii. Because of the wiimote, most Wii games require some workarounds to get working in dolphin. The joycon provide a close enough alternative.

My more "out there" NSO idea would be DS/3DS. I think they could use gameshare so people with switch 1/lite lying around can have the DS Experience

Would also like to see an ever oasis sequel. That game didn't get enough love

I also, strangely enough, want to see more licensed games. Back in my day, people had to commit to making games based on franchises. Sure, a lot of them stunk, but some actually went hard. Since the rise of mobile games, you can just crap out mobile slop, but we never get bangers like Simpsons Hit and Run it Battle for Bikini Bottom anymore.

I accidentally hit post before proofreading this and I'm not going back at this point so have fun deciphering

How Nintendo Directs used to be, not just a trailer with some extra commentary.
I remember when directs featured actual directors.
I miss the old time when Sir Iwata and Sir Reggie were the bosses.

- New 3D Mario, really overdue by now.
- Paper Mario or any new Mario RPG, even if it's unlikely due to brothership.
- New F-Zero.
- A cool New IP.

As for what I know I won't get:
- Pokémon World (will never happen, but whatever).
- Substantial new content for MK World (MK8DX + DLC is still better)
- A new 2D DK and Kirby.
- New 2D Mario, but Wonder makes this impossible.
- New Mario Party, but Jamboree makes this hard to happen.
- Something completely mindblowing and unexpected, like rereleasing the 3DS with improved specs, or officially releasing older games (Wii U and previous) on PC with improved versions and mod support.

it's usually a great showcase for Bandai Namco reveals, so I want a Jojo announcement. Gimme Eyes of Heaven R.

If I recall correctly, Twilight Princess outsold Ocarina of Time, and that has seen 4 releases:
- GCN
- Wii
- NVIDIA
- WiiU

Ocarina of time has only seen even more officially:
- N64
- iQUE
- Gamecube/Wii (Collector's Edition + Virtual Console)
- 3DS
- Nintendo Switch Online
- PROBABLE SWITCH HD REMASTER

So no... if Nintendo is farming TP which outsold OoT back in the day... what do you think Nintendo is going to lose by literally remastering the best Zelda game ever for Nintendo Switch 2 with 4K capabilities? (according to critics...)
Once again, OoT on 3ds is a full remake, not a shelled rom in some shitty emulator, the rest aren't remasters, they are badly emulated roms. Unlike Twilight princess, which is remastered for Wii, remade for both WiiU and Nvidia.

So no, Nintendo is not gonna remaster/remake OoT or MM, because it's a huge waste of money and people can play it on literally every nintendo console since N64.

But yeah, i think they're gonna go with TP because of the latest unofficial port.

I'd be happy for anything that isn't a port, remaster, remake, DLC or NS1/NS2 double release. But my hopes are not high.

I want to see new Mario, Zelda, Kirby games. Don't want remaster or remake - this means we will skip them.
