Nintendo shows off mouse controls for the upcoming Star Fox remake

With the latest entry to the Star Fox series being announced earlier this month, Nintendo have today shown off one of the features new to the game in the mouse controls. By putting a Joy Con flat on a surface, the game will shift to a cockpit view and allow for much more precise aiming during regular gameplay. This may seem familiar to some, with the footage looking pretty similar to what we had in the Wii U's Star Fox Zero, though the extra precision offered by mouse controls might be better suited than the motion controls of yonder.

Star Fox is set to launch on June 25th exclusively on the Switch 2.

This was already in the original reveal trailer, why is this news now?
It was just a more extended look from what I could tell. The original reveal only had a few seconds of it.

Extended preview of it. Trailer showed a few seconds and moved on to the next feature.

Funny enough, Star Fox 2026's Japan sources have plenty of other pre-release footage providing extended previews (including snippets of the new cinematic cutscenes). Hell, the Japan pre-release footage all but confirmed in credits that freakin' Jotaro Kujo is voicing Wolf O'Donnell this time around.

Wii U all over again...
Nah, this is different. Star Fox Zero released near the end of the Wii U's lifetime, after the Wii U had horrible sales numbers the entire way.

This is releasing during the Switch 2's first anniversary celebrations, and the console's selling far better than the Wii U ever could've hoped to.

At worst, it's a Star Fox 64 3D scenario. Which still did better than Zero AND Command combined.

While I probably won't use mouse mode bc I like to game from the couch, I think that having the option is great for my...friends, yes, friends I know (who are definitely not me) who liked and replayed, but never got that good at Star Fox 64.

the joycons as mouse features sucks horribly, why do they keep pushing that as a feature ? most of the time people play the switch 1/2 on the couch.
i really don't get it, why the keep pushing that.

Shows off how they've literally ran out of ideas to make its shit hardware and recycled games seem better than it actually is.

I'd stick to emulation, as my handheld pc emulates Zelda better than it runs on the Switch 2 and can actually be "enhanced" and play in 3D.
How do you play switch games in 3d via emu?

Because mouse controls on consoles is something people have been demanding for years now? Or, at least, as long as Splatoon 2 and 3 have been around.

I didn’t really get it until Pokopia, but when it’s implemented well it really can be a fantastic control scheme option.

At the end of the day, they seem to be treating it as an option more than a requirement, so it’s easy enough to ignore if it’s not your thing.

Is this the 4th remake of Star Fox 64?

I thought they'd go all-out on the graphics, but this looks like a third-party Wii U game.

The voices sound lame too - which seems to be Nintendo's hallmark for remakes.
