007 First Light, IO Interactive's standalone, reimagined James Bond origin story, is set to release in less than a week. In anticipation of the launch, a new trailer was aired:

In 007 First Light, James Bond (portrayed by Patrick Gibson) steps into the world of espionage after catching MI6’s attention, beating the odds in a precarious situation in Iceland. Bond finds an unexpected advocate in M (Priyanga Burford), who sees his ability to stay in control under pressure and backs his judgment in the field. That confidence is tested by John Greenway (Lennie James), a former 00 agent and the program’s hardline training instructor, whose disciplined, by-the-book philosophy clashes with Bond’s instinctive, improvisational style. When the rogue return of 009 becomes the 00-Programme’s first real test, Bond is set on a journey across the world, pursuing leads from the quiet Carpathian Mountains to the dangerous black market of Aleph, and into the lair of the unpredictable Bawma (Lenny Kravitz).

Players can tackle objectives through stealth, direct action, or a mix of both, by leveraging the following four gameplay systems:
  • Spycraft that rewards observation: eavesdropping on key conversations, pickpocketing vital items, and uncovering environmental clues to open new pathways.
  • Bond’s Instinct gives players a versatile edge to lure enemies, bluff their way out of suspicion, or sharpen focus for precision in combat.
  • Q Branch gadgets expand tactical options for hacking, lock cutting, distractions, elimination, and quiet takedowns.
  • When stealth breaks, combat is fast and fluid, blending impactful close-quarters takedowns with ranged gunplay and an escalation that reflects Bond’s measured use of force, up to his Licence to Kill.
The announcement comes shortly after another IO Interactive partnership with smart glasses maker, Even Realities. The two companies have paired up to integrate Even Realities’ latest flagship smart glasses, the Even G2, directly into 007 First Light. The Even G2 will appear as an in-game gadget, and its integration will be arriving via a post-launch update. For additional insights on what Even Realities' smart glasses are capable of, be sure to check out our editorial that features their earlier model!

007 First Light is set to release on May 27, on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. A Nintendo Switch 2 version is planned for a Summer 2026 release.

None of the previews or early game-plays of this game did them any justice!

Seems they kept so much hidden leading up to the release, and honestly this game is amazing!

I'm already 4 hours plus into the story and great acting, great gameplay, great missions, and so forth! Really makes you think and gives so many options and paths to everything you do.

This might be one of the best Bond games, ever created, and I already want a sequel...

I really want to play but after hearing people are completing it in 14 hours, I have to wait for it's first sale. Already have a pretty huge backlog anyway. The game absolutely looks like a lot of fun.

I was watching a friend play this on his stream tonight, I have to say the presentation is way beyond what I'd expect for a random 007 game. I'll get it when it's $5 in a year or two.

Most games are short now, and I agree most of the DLC for it so far is all cosmetics, they can expand on it later, in which I'm sure they will...kind of like they do the Hitman series, more stuff will come! Good thing with the Deluxe Edition we'll definitely get more.
If it is shorter than the 20 hours they originally said, it's because people skipped 60% of everything and just focused on the main objectives, because there are a lot of things to explore and find and unlock during the actual missions.
If you're a completionist like me, you'll explore and it'll take a lot longer than 14 to 20 hours for sure.

1.5 Million Copies Sold - And Reviews are Outstanding, it's from a great studio, and they continue to bring out great games.
