Dragon Quest 12 re-announced alongside new Dragon Quest Monsters title during 40th anniversary broadcast
To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Dragon Quest series, a short presentation was released on the official Dragon Quest channel. Alongside a nice recap of the series thus far, the presentation featured two notable titles: Dragon Quest 12 and a new Dragon Quest Monsters game. Though originally announced back in 2021 during a very similar broadcast celebrating the series' 35th anniversary, Dragon Quest 12 hit various snags in production, leading the team to completely restart the project. During that transition, the tagline was changed from The Flames Of Fate to what it is now, Beyond Dreams. A short trailer gives a glimpse of some of the main cast as well as the larger world.
Towards the end of the presentation, a new entry to the Dragon Quest Monsters series was also announced, revealed to be titled "The Withered World". It'll be coming to Switch, Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series, and PC, and is set to release ahead of Dragon Quest 12.
Though not a part of this presentation, a trailer was separately uploaded to the Dragon Quest YouTube channel announcing a Switch 2 release of Dragon Quest 11 S' Definitive Edition. Those who already own the Nintendo Switch release should not get too excited however, with this version not having any kind of upgrade path available, and the physical release confirmed to be via Game Key Card. It is at least launching soon though, with the date confirmed to be the 24th of September.
