Pokemon Alolan Seaglass gets first screenshots and update after being announced back in February

After the popularity of Emerald Seaglass, a project that spliced Game Boy Color graphics with the gameplay of Pokemon Emerald, many were excited to see the latest game announced from creator Nemo. Revealed alongside the v2.0 update for Pokemon Lazarus, Alolan Seaglass was teased as a demake of the 2016 releases Pokemon Sun and Moon in the same style of their previous titles. Though we still don't have a release date to go on, we have toda\y got our first batch of screenshots alongside a brief message to say the project is still alive and well.

Pokemon Alolan Seaglass is officially in development! I do not have a release estimate yet, but it's going well. Thank you for your patience! My Master's program has been super busy, but I promise I haven't forgotten about Rom Hacking. I'll have more updates soon!!

With more updates promised soon, it's a project we're eager to keep an eye on. If you're interested in Nemo's other hacks in the meantime, you can find them linked below on their Ko-fi page. Note all hacks are free to download with the option to donate should you wish to.

Every time a project is posted here that uses Nintendo IP people comment "can't wait for the dmca"

It's to the point of the stability jokes on switch update threads
There's been a temptation to add any that I see to my ignore lists, but then I wouldn't see their entries when I run giveaways or tournaments.

Maybe that would be for the best lol

what you fail to realize is it's not a joke. if you take donations for a rom hack/fan project using any of their IP your just painting a big target on your back especially when it's posted about it in here. but these fools just never learn! also charging for rom hacks is despicable i hope he gets dmca'd

I do realize it's not a joke

I mean it doesn't really add to the conversation because we are all well aware and it gets posted every time

ive never played a pokemon game before so i dont have any real stake to make a comment but I think its very dishonorable for anyone to take donations for a romhack. It's a slippery slope first its donations then next thing you know they will be selling the romhack. homebrew is supposed to be a hobbyist community project. not a get rich gatcha movement.

if your not making romhacks for the right reasons which is for respect and community entertainment for all then you shouldnt be making romhacks imo.

I agree, but the donation is optional. I doubt they'll make more than $500, but if they're young and really need financial help in order to work on the hack... maybe the donations will make a difference? Life is getting more and more expensive.

Definitely not a "get rich" plan though lol, the developer surely knows that, they're not doing it for the money :D

I think all the pearl clutching in this thread proves that people just copy each others opinions on this site and don’t think beyond surface level. No Pokémon ROM hack has suffered a DMCA in ages, and somebody asking for optional donations for their work…honestly, who cares. They’ll make less money than your average scalper makes in one transaction. Donations are optional, let people decide for themselves.
