Hi, i'm currently creating a Touch Detective spanish translation patch for both games. I've managed to change the Game's Title for firmware menus (So it gets a new title while playing on melonDS or TwilightMenu++). However, i was going to make the new graphics for the game, so i had to extract the files, using the CrystalTile2 method. The problem is, unlike many DS games in which it's files are located in the "file system information", with it's respetive .carc files, Touch Detective does not. All of it's files are located in .bin files, and it's most likely that the graphics are located in the "data.bin" file. However, i don't know how exactly i should decompile these files. Any help would be appreciated, since i plan on releasing an alpha of this hack, for others to be interested on the project.

Here is the "file system information menu":

Here, you can see the title change i did for the translation:

It's also been modified for other firmware languages...

I did play with it a couple of years back (might even be able to find the thread on romhacking.net somewhere) and it was an oddity even by all in one big archive approaches in DS games.

Yes most things were in the data.bin file and it has pointers, though unlike most things for some reason the pointers were shifted such that you need to shift them back to make any sense of them, after which it is fairly normal.

Edit "couple of years back" is apparently 10

Gonna read this, thanks

My batch file from there is apparently still working

I did do something with the graphics in the post linked for a giggle but that thread was mostly about the text and as you have all the files then you can do something with those if you want/find the location within the archive if they are not compressed and edit accordingly, and if the format is known then it should be so hard to build something to remake it if you need to pull it apart and don't just want to move it to the end of the file.

Well that's a bummer, reading that last part. I guess i should wait for a miracle to happen then. I almost had a migrane trying to understand that thread, but i guess in other words means that the decompilation is somewhat very messy to accommodate.
