Now that switch gen is over for Pokémon. Which games were better in your opinion. Scarlet and Violet or Sword and Shield?

I kinda like both, kinda hate both... but leaning towards Sword and Shield because of the DLC. This is just my view.

IMO both had their ups & downs.

SwSH for the traditional "species per routes" and the world construction & the raid system in the DLC (with increased shiny encounters + legendary hunt)
SV for the open world aspect of it (minus the extreme lag in the switch 1 version)

Kinda liked both on my end, since they satisfied different gameplay at the time of their respective release.

If I must choose one, I'm going with SV for the multiplayer part of it (players in the union circle thingy to hunt on the same map).

Agree 100%

Also agree on the lag on switch 1. of course gameplay is the most important thing in a game. But damn the lag is bad.

I can't in good faith take anyone who has ANYTHING good to say about SV seriously. These games are legitimately bad, an embarrassment and you as fans should DEMAND for better. If TPC and Game Freak are big and famous now it's thanks to people like us and we shouldn't accept games like SV and think they're peak.
A game coming from one of the biggest multimedia companies in the world has no right looking like it barely reached the alpha state of development and run even worse. Not to mention their "open world" is one of the worst because the game still forces you to take an intended route and the game outright lacks an artstyle, it's soulless and doesn't feel like Sugimori or even pokemon art anymore.

SwSh isn't that great either but it's still better in every aspect possible. The graphics aren't good but at least they have a coherent style, it still feels like it fits in a Pokemon game, Galar is one of the comfiest regions even if it's a straight line, the pokedex (as in the menu option, not the present pokemon) is serviceable unlike SV's mess and EVEN if the game is so easy it plays itself, at least the usual Pokemon gameplay loop still works and is fun. SV even got THAT wrong.
There's also the post game which while it's DLC, it's still more replayable and fun than whatever SV got (nothing).
You can complain about it being DLC but it's no different to buying a 3rd version but here it's better because you're actually adding content to the game you already own.
Now people can say "but but the Wild Area's tree". Ok yeah, it's one tree in one area vs SV where the whole game looks like that.

The best pokemon games on Switch are still Legends: Arceus and New Snap (and almost by default, FRLG) but SwSh by now is kind of a "comfy" pokemon game and between this and SV, it's a no brainer.

Rant over, this is something I think about a lot and annoys me because I want Pokemon games to be better and actually represent the asking price and the place they're coming from.
