Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream leaks online three days ahead of its official launch

After reportedly being sold early in the US and screenshots of the game emerging on Discord servers in the past few days, we have now been able to confirm that Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream has leaked online. With the game largely focusing on the interactions of your own Miis and building your own island, there aren't likely to be any major spoilers to come of this, but those wanting to keep the experience as fresh as possible should still be wary leading up to the official release date.

As always we want to remind you of our rules, particularly around the linking of warez and other illegal content. While we encourage discussion, you should under no circumstances be asking for links, offering links, or providing the names of sites that host said material. For those waiting on their official copies, Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream remains set to launch April 16th exclusively on the Nintendo Switch.

the inflation argument is really bad
the purchasing power of the dollar is not relevant to the purchasing power of the consumer, which is tied to wage growth, unless the minimum wage is tied to inflation
for the switch 2 to be a better value proposition than its predecessor, wages would have to have gone up 50% across the board since 2017, which they clearly have not
if i have to work more hours to purchase the console, it doesn't matter to me what the inflation calculator says, it's more expensive
Lol. I'm pretty sure I've told him exactly this in a different thread.
Yes in 80s the NES was a luxury item, but that does not make the switch 2 less overpriced.
I'm kind of waiting for a Switch 2 Lite before I consider picking one up. It would have to be $300 max too. If not, well that's okay, I have a gaming PC.

I'm waiting for an OLED version. I don't want to spend a fortune and downgrade the screen. Once you go OLED there is no coming back to LCD :P :P

I decided—what the hey—let's actually calculate how many hours you would have to work at the united states federal minimum wage to purchase each console at launch.

Switch 2 - 6/2025 ($449) = 62 hours
Switch - 3/2017 ($299) = 42 hours
Wii U - 11/2012 ($349) = 49 hours
Wii - 11/2006 ($249) = 49 hours
Gamecube - 11/2001 ($199) = 39 hours
N64 - 9/1996 ($199) = 47 hours
SNES - 8/1991 ($199) = 53 hours
NES - 10/1985 ($179) = 54 hours

I rounded up, of course. The Switch and Gamecube were cheapest, Switch 2 is way out in front with NES and SNES trailing far behind.
In other words, what we've all intuited and said, only to have idiots come and tell us, "well ackshually if you look at inflation" -_-

Though I expect people here have basic literacy skills, I will for no reason at all quote this section of the original post.

High price of the console? It's only $450. That's nothing these days. In fact, it's nothing historically either. I've adjusted the launch prices for inflation:

Switch 2 shipped in June at $449
Switch $299 in 3/2017 = $395 today
Wii U $349 in 11/2012 = $488 today
Wii $249 in 11/2006 = $400 today
Gamecube $199 in 11/2001 = $361 today
N64 $199 in 9/1996 = $406 today
SNES $199 in 8/1991 = $470 today
NES $179 in 10/1985 = $531 today

The NES was outrageously priced. Greedy 1980s Nintendo 🤣
Higher inflation does not necessarily mean higher salaries.

In fact, the median wages have not kept up with inflation since 2021. Meaning inflation goes up, but people earn less in proportion to inflation. $450 is a ton of money for the majority of people.
