Hi I have corsair one i164 and the nvme ssd failed twice and it is very difficult to replace it by myself

It also has hdd which is very slow lol so I want to replace it because I can access it easily.

My question is which is better running ssd via sata or usb 3.1 gen 2? Can I install windows in external ssd? Is it stable?
