I would actually consider where it's currently at as a good stopping point, the OpenGX renderer has issues with priority order and clipping but it generally works for a lot of games and for those that it doesn't, the software renderers are still functional, I would say just fixing the controller issues in regards to the menu that have been introduced would be enough to call it a day.

EDIT: literally 98 percent of games are fully playable flawlessly, that's not a small accomplishment whatsoever and everyone who worked on this should be proud of themselves for putting out a product that outdoes even Sony's own efforts on their own consoles, there's no way to use a lightgun for example on PS4 or PS5! Yet the humble Wii can do it.

Yeah you always want to be using lightrec for everything as well as newsoft, you should use oldsoft though for games that actually run at 60fps because newsoft has framepacing issues and can't actually keep a totally stable 59.94 framerate for some reason. So basically the play is lightrec+newsoft for everything unless it's a fighting game or shmup in which case use either lightrec+oldsoft or lightrec+opengx. Thank God Wiistation allows you to have seperate configs for games because this can get very confusing very fast!
It seems like opengx is better for full motion video though, I just started playing Klonoa and on newsoft the opening cutscenes were lagging. I changed it to opengx and they ran normally.

In another reply you said opengx was a speed boost because it uses the GPU to render graphics, so I guess it makes sense that for "playing videos" using the GPU would be faster. But like you said OpenGX has issues with framebuffer emulation. So isn't the play something like:

try opengx (but, if it has graphical glitches) > try newsoft (but, if it has framepacing issues or is a lightgun game) > try oldsoft

Or you could do it backwards:
try oldsoft (if it's too slow) > try newsoft (if it's too slow) > try opengx (if it's still too slow give up)

And I guess there's no reason to use anytyhing but lightrec.
