Bloodborne is still not coming to PC, but it is at least getting an animated movie

Having released on PlayStation 4 more than ten years ago, Bloodborne is one game people just can't stop talking about. Whether they want it to come to PC or just run at 60fps on the platforms it's already available on, neither FromSoftware nor Sony seem to want anything to do with the Souls-adjacent hit. After a long time with very little news, we have this week heard that it is getting some attention from Sony, just not the kind people were expecting.

Announced at CinemaCon 2026, Sony will be working on an R-rated and animated adaptation of the game with YouTuber Jacksepticeye coming on as a producer. Little more is known at this point, with the plot, casting, and release date all being kept under wraps.

I'll just get it out of the way and say that I couldn't care less about a genre of game that gets off on mocking the player for their failings the way a souls game does. So, never saw, or understood the appeal. That being said, given that FromSoft leaned hard into the dark souls memes, did anyone REALLY expect that they were going to release such a game anywhere more than they explicitly had to? Be real for a moment here.

Miyazaki has stated that he is not opposed to a PC port. But Sony and Sony alone blocks a PC port as they, not FromSoft, owns the publishing rights AND the source code. And FromSoft is releasing such a game -- Duskbloods -- on Switch 2, not Sony.

I get why someone who probably has a room in his house full of participation trophies hates a game that mocks players for sucking.
#snowflake.

Some of us have been playing Bloodborne on PC since late 2023, by the way. And at higher framerates and better resolutions than on PS4.

Sony owns the Bloodborne IP, and they haven't been able to line their schedule up with FromSoft because of all the live service slop they're busy releasing this generation. FromSoft was sure to secure the Elden Ring IP for themselves so that they wouldn't have to deal with that amount of red tape again.

Meanwhile, Nintendo brought a dumptruck full of cash to Miyazaki's house, so we are getting a very Bloodborne-esque game in the form of Duskbloods on Switch 2 instead.

So Sony doesn't want to do a remake because they want to respect Miyazaki wishes, not even doing a 60fps patch for some reason wants to do this instead with a Youtuber. What a joke

Sony failing to read the room once again.

Or is this some kind of feude between FromSoft and Sony? The former didn't greenlight a Bloodborne remake and instead went and announced a Bloodborne-like Switch 2 exclusive. Now the latter hires a freaking YouTuber to make a Bloodborne animation? That sounds like Sony really just wants to piss off FromSoft.

As much as the two keep saying their relationship is solid, it does seem like there's some bitterness or animosity there behind the scenes. Like Sony is mad that a third-party game was by far the PS4's best exclusive. There were also talks of Sony buying out FromSoft at one point, and thank god those fell through, because they almost certainly would've saddled them with a live service game and then closed the studio halfway through development like they did with BluePoint.
