That’s what really pisses me off about Israel. For a country that represents itself as Judaism itself, they sure do have an obsession with making the rest of the Middle East disappear, especially Palestine and Iran. You think a sect of people who survived six million or more of their people being murdered in another such holocaust almost a century ago would want to make their first priority to never have that happen to anyone again. But yet, they insist on doing it.

Remains to be seen if it will actually go ahead, but congratulations to Trump on successfully negotiating a deal!

A shame it's much weaker than the one Obama negotiated, which I'll note also didn't require a war, dead troops, thousands of civilian deaths and massive damage to the world economy, but hey, technically not the worst possible outcome. It would have been impressive if Trump had tripped over the low bar he himself was digging into the ground by threatening genocide.

This is probably about the best we can expect from Trump. Another war ended!

Iran is in a better position now than before the war

From what I have read about this situation, a lot of laws and regulations are being broken here. Assuming that is true, why hasn't anything been done about it yet by anyone?

Can anything be done about it anyway?

Congress needs to declare war according to the constitution

So congress could have stopped this war

But Congress is controlled by the president's party - so they didn't

Your next question might naturally be, why don't they pass a law in support of the war to legitimize it? And the answer is, the war is unpopular so they don't want to

It's easier for them to take no action at all, which they have done

Actually, we kinda do, and it's a doozy.

Here's a summary:

- The Strait of Hormuz to be reopened "under the co-ordination of the Armed Forces of Iran".
- The war against "all components" of Iran's Axis of Resistance to end.
- US forces to withdraw from "all bases and points of deployment within the region".
- The establishment of a "secure transit protocol" in the Strait of Hormuz.
- The full payment of compensation to Iran.
- The lifting of all primary and secondary sanctions, as well as the resolutions of the Board of Governors and the Security Council.
- The release of all frozen Iranian assets and properties abroad.
I saw some online which were almost definitely going to be agreed to, and went with that list. We won't know for sure how many of these capitulations will really happen until the deal is signed. The one for the US to withdraw from all bases in the region feels like one of the biggest for the US to agree to.

This is so bad for Israel that maybe we'll see some Epstein files trickle out anonymously in the next couple weeks to remind Trump who holds the leash.

Not unreasonable, if you ask me. The us could've chosen something like 'not terrorizing the region'. Or 'honoring a deal that an actual president negotiated'.

So the war is still "illegal" according to the constitution, even if we ignore all the children that got bombed? Is it legal for them to take no action?

Like if a person shoots someone on live television and the police don't arrest that person, what happens? And do the police really have to arrest them, legally speaking?

This is video game writing levels of bs sophistry.

More tariffs... Yeah, like we haven't heard that one before.

How about every country but Israel and the US deliver exactly one weapon to Iran? He'd be forced to back out yet again, as unity against the US makes those tariff hurt the US far more than the other countries.
He's just pulling a Cartman temper tantrum because Russia and China were giving Iran their weapons and Trump just got F'd in the A over the ceasefire. So he needs to feel important.

Watch Russia be exempt from these tarrifs.

Yup. And China too. Which is literally the only two countries worth a damn in that arrangement. Belarus no one gives a shit about. Putin will probably threaten Trump somehow and China will raise their tariffs to a point that US imports there become a near impossibility. Companies aren't going to like that. So again, Trump will have to bow.

This is like watching a school playground scenario where one bully (Trump) tries to bully a kid they "thought" was weaker (Iran) to impress his bigger buddy (Israel). But he misjudged this kid, and got a bloody nose for his trouble. He whimpers like a baby, but is angry inside. He doesn't learn his lesson. Instead, he tells other kids (foreign countries) that he will punish the younger kids harder (US citizens) if they support this kid. His own subordinates (Trump administration, ICE, etc) makes sure those younger kids "know their place".

But until those younger kids actually do something instead of being submissive, things won't change for them. There are far more of them than their are of the bullies.

And the sad part is that no one in this country has any balls or courage to do anything. They'd rather just disappear into their phones and ignore the world around them as they are so fucking self-centered and selfish. They have no clue about how community works and how things that affect others will inevitably affect them.

For a country that represents itself as Judaism itself, they sure do have an obsession with making the rest of the Middle East disappear
Torah - Genesis Chapter 15 verse 18-21
18 - On that day, the Lord formed a covenant with Abram, saying, "To your seed I have given this land, from the river of Egypt until the great river, the Euphrates river.
19 - The Kenites, the Kenizzites, and the Kadmonites,
20 - And the Hittites and the Perizzites and the Rephaim,
21 - And the Amorites and the Canaanites and the Girgashites and the Jebusites.

So modern day Zionists believe the Jewish people have a divine right to the lands in the middle east, they refer to these lands as "greater israel" and includes
Israel and Palestine, Lebanon, Jordan, Syria, Iraq, Parts of Egypt (up to the Nile), Parts of Saudi Arabia, Parts of Turkey

This doctrine is also important to American Evangelicals (also zionists) as they believe israel needs to claim these lands + sacrifice the red heifer which will cause Armageddon, god will kill all the Jews and christians will be raptured to heaven.

EDIT: It needs to be said, not every practicing jew of any tribe is a zionist
