A controller for your thoughts - win a free controller!

conbanner.jpg

It's around that time of the year I try to be a more productive person, and with that comes the question of where that productivity should be directed. Courtesy of @AKNES I have a controller to give away, with the winner being able to pick from 8BitDo's Ultimate 2C (Bluetooth or Wireless), GuliKit's ES Pro, Elves 2, or Elves 2 Pro, or EasySMX's D05. On top of this, the administration have also decided to give three lucky runner ups a year of GBAtemp patronage, complete with ad-free perks! So what am I asking of you for a chance to win any of these lovely things?

The criteria is simple. You'll need to have been a member before this thread went live. If you're reading this as a lurker, I encourage you to sign up and join in with the larger community. You might not be able to join this giveaway, but there'll be more down the line. For those already here though, you'll just need to reply to this thread, and your reply will need the following information:
  • An upcoming game you're looking forward to
  • Your favourite ROM hack
  • A cool bit of gaming tech you own or are interested in
If you can manage that much, you'll have your shot at the prizes! It might all seem a bit random, but it's handy to check in every so often to see where interests currently lie. If we see there's big interest in a given game, we might go more out of our way to post smaller updates or trailers as they release. If a ROM hack has a bunch of recommendations, we might take a bit of time to feature or review it. It's all good to know.

You'll have a week to enter, with entries closing Friday the 27th of March at 8pm in the UK. I'll pop a threadmark down to make it clear where the cut-off is, and announce the winners on Sunday the 29th of March. All winners will be both tagged and DM'd, so feel free to turn off notifications for this post after putting your reply down.

A big thanks to @AKNES for supplying the choice of controller for giveaway. If you're interested in joining their Discord community where they run their own giveaways alongside providing customer support for the various things they sell, you can find a link below.

No harm in trying

  • An upcoming game you're looking forward to
While I do wait for Remnant III to become real someday (still more realistic than waiting for starcraft 2 to hit Steam), People of Note looks incredibly promishing in many aspects.

  • Your favourite ROM hack
Thats easy, and one of the few that I "completed", and is Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced 2: Vanilla Spiced, by DeSgeretjin. Its also easy to find.

  • A cool bit of gaming tech you own or are interested in
Well, while I wait for something cooler, all I have is a plain 8BitDo Ultimate 2C Wired Controller which is serving me well for its cost, yet the buttons are recently starting to fail. Sad

1. Upcoming Game: DYNASTY WARRIORS 3: Complete Edition Remastered
2. Favorite ROM Hack: Kaizo Mario World (HMs: Pokémon Rejuvenation and Insurgence)
3. Gaming Tech: I wish Hori would launch a Split Pad Pro for NSW2 already, including the LACK of rumble and wireless features. I love the OG one for the NSW. Also looking forward to the new Steam Controller.

Seems like a fun giveaway, I'd love to win a controller!

A game im a bit embarrased to look forward to is the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2, since I wanted to see what change as well as extra additional content would be for both (im mainly here for Peace Walker) Peace Walker and 4 Guns of the Patriot, since I dont have much time to find what game I wanted to try anymore

My Favorite ROM hack? I dont know if PS2 ROM Hacks would count but I would say Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 4 Romhack of BT3, I've been playing it every now and then anytime I could for the past 5 years, when Sparking Zero first announce I expect it to be something good and new with loads of characters and maps and skills and all of that but when I got my hands on it, I realized it was meh, I hyped myself up for nothing :(

a cool bit of gaming tech I own is the G502 HERO. Since i've never had a proper gaming mouse (or any gaming apparatus ever) ever in my life, when I got it I finally understand why its priced the way it is, how clicky the side buttons are, you could smoothly spin the scroll wheel with the latch below it, the multitude of commands and buttons you could map it to do, the only thing Im actually not a fan of is the software you have to install on your PC to even use all of its function, im looking forward to getting maybe a better keyboard, not necessarily a gaming keyboard but something thats full size and feel nice to type.

I am really looking forward to Final Fantasy VII: Part 3. I love RPGs in general, but this one caught my eye. It might not come as a surprise that my favorite ROMhack is also a RPG, in particular: Pokémon Adventure: Red Chapter.

A cool bit of gaming tech I am intrested in is my DS Download Station, it's one of my most priced processions. Another one is an Xbox One BETA test kit i own. I really want to buy a DS dev kit or something like that. That's basically the console i grew up with!

An upcoming game you're looking forward to: Metal Gear Solid master collection volume 2 (MGS4 free of the PS3!)
Your favourite ROM hack: Metroid Fusion, Sequence Breaking Fusion
A cool bit of gaming tech you own or are interested in: Steam Deck

Cant wait for GTA VI, just wondering why it is not Listed for PC yet. If it is strictly for XBox and PS5, that is going to upset a lot of PC Gamers

Back when the Wii was being done, a User named YoshiParty (or Yoshi'sParty) came out with a SM64 (2) Rom hack. It is a Harder Hack, where you get to the Roof, and start at the Basement Levels first, and has other twists. Just cant find it anywhere now.

Love my SteamDeck. Just wish there was a Slide-out Keyboard Attachment as well. Would be very useful for Game like Doom (or Brutal Doom :D ), or if it has the right buttons, for Trainers.

Hmmm let's think about it, my XBOX One controller works great but I would not dismiss the chance of winning a brand new controller.

1- Probably GTA 6, despite the shit around the company.
2- I really enjoyed Super Mario Bros 3 Mix in the recent years, I still find myself playing it again often.
3- The cool tech I currently own are my Atari 8-bit computers, from which I create music and use for cool homebrew projects!

Good luck to everyone!

Upcoming game that i am looking forward is splatoon raiders: I loved Splatoon 1 and his single player mode. I am ready to just jump by wii u to switch 2 only for this game.

Favorite romhack: i loved super mario galaxy 2 cosmos collapse, there are so many fresh ideas of level design and we want talk about the music!

Cool bit of gaming tech. I loved nyxi wizard for gamecube buttons but i left it to my brothers so i wanna another controller with gamecube buttons so i dream to have retrofighters battlergc pro that has also analogic triggers and it isn't splitted so it has more compatibility with more gaming objects. But objectively i am using wii u gamepad so i don't need another controller.

An upcoming game you're looking forward to:
That's a tough one, because there aren't many! Beyond Good & Evil 2, if I may dream.
Your favourite ROM hack:
Of the ROM hacks I've made, I'm most proud of Newtrogic High Zone, the first ROM hack of Knuckles' Chaotix. First 32X hack? Can't say these days.
A cool bit of gaming tech you own or are interested in:
Current hardware obsession: controllers that let you record and play back inputs. I've got a Saturn one with removable chips to save them. Here's an SNES one, just look at this cute abomination:

Well then i throw in my hat too.

I look forward to the final part of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake

The best Romhack has to be Pokemon Team Rocket Edition

And a Piece of Tech i want to share is my PS Vita with a self build VitaDock with modified Software to use it like you can use a Nintendo Switch.

Upcoming Game: GTA 6 ! (I hope the single player story is as good as 5 and they don't just put together some slop to sell the new GTA Online )

ROM Hack: Pretty much every un-dub project, especially for RPGs!

Tech: A prototype of the Classic2Magic which lets you plug real SNES carts into a SNES mini to play / dump the ROM yourself.

  • I'm looking forward to DOWN SOUTH, look at this smug bastard; LOOK. AT. HIM.
    https://troopsushi.com/downsouth
  • ROMHACKS? I enjoyed Yoshi in Sonic 2, I thought it was novel, and being able to throw eggs at eggman was satisfying and funny, oohhh, Kurko Mods also makes GREAT Banjo-Kazooie hacks!
  • I recently installed arch linux (endeavour os) because I like the space theme, a used a very light desktop environment; I'm interested in bringing the kernel philosophy of CachyOS and scheduling to the Wii U homebrew, in order to further optimize loading the I/O, installation, and booting cafe as fast as the PowerPC architecture can handle; I want it to be the Powermac G4 of the homebrew community.

1. The new Rhythm Heaven game
2. Pikmin 1², the Pikmin1 in Pikmin2's engine romhack
3. AYN Thor has sweeped everything post-Steam-deck in my head. Hopefully the LineageOS build for it turns out good, but i'd also take full linux running on it, with KDE Plasma...

Hello! Count me in!

Upcoming game I am looking for: The new Fire Emblem game
Favourite ROM hack: stretches the definition of a "ROM" but here it goes: CTGP Revolution (Mario Kart WII)
Gaming tech I am looking for: Steam Machine. But I am also really thinking hard about getting a C64 Ultimate.
